Hello new to the board and am having trouble with my cigerrette lighter not ejecting. I don't smoke, but need it for my cell and navigation. It will light and pop back, but then the little sleeve it is in tries to come out with it and neither releases.Any suggestions?
Do you have an actual cigarette lighter? Mine just came with a little cover that snaps onto it. Does yours have this? Otherwise it sounds like you could just leave the lighter out all the time?
The same thing happens with my cigarette lighter. With some trepidation, I pull it out anyway. The enclosure comes out about 1/4 inch, but stops there. I've done this a zillion times with no problem as of yet (knock on wood).

My plug is loose as well and always feels like it wants to come out when I pull out any chargers. I wouldn't worry a great deal about it. Shouldn't be that much of a problem. Worst case, you buy a replacement at Radio Shack or from 'Yota/GM.

Mine does the same when I pull my GPS out, stupid thing comes out like Houston said.Oh and I have an 04.I wouldn't stick a pair of pliers in when the battery is hooked up though.

mine is an 07 and it is an actual lighter. I didn't know there was another adapter I will look for that tonight. I wouldn't mind the insert coming out, but the problem is that the lighter is in it and I can't it out so basically the outlet can not be used

Pontiac removed the cig. adapter from the console between the seats in '05, I believe. I don't have an actual cig. lighter, just a little flip cap over it, but from what everyone else has said, it looks like you just need to pull harder on the thing.

I took a chance pulling real hard, anyway. It worked for me, so good luck to you if you try it.
the only other outlet i have is 115 volts....not sure if i can run the gps or charge the phone with that I know the gps would need a different plug anyone have any idea where to get that?
I tried to just pull reall hard slowly and tried to just yank it, but niether worked. I also tried to hould the sleeve in with a screwdriver while I pulled the lighter, but no results there either. I think this is somehow wearing out my battery also as I had a hard time rolling up the windows and the radio went out just as I was going back in from lunchAny thoughts or suggestions
I got the cig lighter oput this morning. I realized I wasn't getting a goo angle on it with the shifter and everything there and thought maybe wd40 would work. I was a bit worried about getting it inside the outlet thoguh so before I did it i grabbed a pair of pliers. I just gave it a little tug to see if the dash was going to come apart like i thought it would when i was just using my handthat little tug endde up bringing the lighter and the pliers into my stomach. it didn't feell good, but it was well worth having the lighter out. now I just need to test the outlet, but it was lighting the lighter during this fiasco so it should be okay., now we should be able to get to the honeymoon and back without getting lost
I had this issue when I first got the car in 2002. I can check at school if I can find the TSB for you and I can fax it if you want. Otherwise I think the way they fixed it was twisting the inside of the outlet to kind of tighten it. I tried but got electrocuted (removed)...wise idea right?Take it to the dealer and they should fix it. If not, I'll get the TSB out of the database and send to who ever wants it.
Ten Four. Only problem is that I have to get it from the database in my shop class so I don't know if I can get it on my computer. I'll bring a zip drive and try that
