New at web site and new owner of 09 Vibe AWD with 16" steel wheels love the car gas mileage could be better but 24 25 drivng to work and 26.5 on trip car still only has 1250 milesThanks for all the help on wheel size Went to a Auto recycled yard today and tried the 07 Camary wheels with 114mm and works fineAlso at dealers today and they only show one steel wheel listed on there web site Parts man and I are guessing the 114mm is one being used on 09 because of 08 and older had a different part #Now to my question will any other tire pressure sensors work on the vibe and matrix besides the ones listed or would Camary sensors work???????
i would say if they are the same part number they would work...but keep in mind you will still need them to be reprogramed each time the tires are switched out.

I presume that I can reprogram tpms using the button on the car and that I don't have to take it to a dealer. Boy, looking at tirerack, the tpms are about $90 each. What happens if I don't put tpms on the snow tires...tpms light stays on...but so what...right?
Can i just step in here and say I HATE THE TMPSThis system has been nothing but a headace for me and I don't even have it in my Vibe (Thank Goodness!!). The System has good intentions, but the implementation was seriously flawed. The Fed. Gov. came up with this idea as a way to reduce our dependence on foregin oil.By having an Idiot light to come on to tell us our tires may have low pressure we can be reminded to make sure we have propper pressure and there by not loose mpgs. The problem is that these systems are failing left and right to sense what the current and proper pressure is and have to be taken to a dealer to be reset.Part of My job at a Car Rental place is to make sure that the car is road worthy to rent and these lights will come even with proper pressure. And A Customer doesnt want a rental car with a yellow light staring at them in the face. Personaly if you are capable of monitoring the tire pressure yourself then you dont need to have this system. And for those who can not monitor their vehicles basic needs then well I dont want to step on any toes, but I have a strong thoughts about those who dont know how to at least check basic stuff and know what if anything should be done.
Think positive.... At least when the light indicator comes on there is no audio warning as well..... IF there was a chime every time it lights up, winter would be VERY long.....

Yes you can run with out the sensors and Yes the light will stay on. Nothing a little piece of black tape couldn't solve.Won't hurt anything to run with out the sensors in the tires. The button is only to reset the system NOT to reprogram the sensors. If you had the older system like i do you wouldn't need those in-tire sensors.

I'm right there with zionzr2! Hate those little TPMS sensors. I see cars on tires that are missing a lot of air, zooming around, sometimes at high speed. So it's pretty apparent that these drivers don't really look at their tires. That little yellow tire symbol with the exclamation mark in the center lighting up on their dash will only irritate these drivers. Most likely they probably won't give it much notice it anyway. Please don't give car safety regulators more ideas by mentioning an audio warning to go with the TPMS light! Driving around with low tire pressure is costing the driver extra money for gas and for the tire(s) they are ruining, not to mention the increased danger to themselves and others if a blow out occurred at a bad moment. Eventually, as our driving habits continue to decompose, more 'safety' equipment will have to be added for our very own protection. The next sensor is going to be the flashing light and screaming buzzer that will go off when approaching a stop sign or red light, informing the driver that a full stop is needed. Running red lights and stop signs is way more popular now, so expect this useful little safety device soon. Maybe they will include a dope slap headrest feature, too.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Just had my new steel rims and Winterforce tires mounted without sensors. Shop where I just left from told me a new Duramax wanted to go from 245 to 265 tires using same sensors.after leaving shop he returned in about 10 min. Truck would not rev higher than 1700 rpm lights and buzzer kept going off. showed in display on dash wrong size tire on truck.also manual stated engine would not rev any higher than 1700 rpm if any tire was 5 # under the recommended tire pressure.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It getting nuts!!!!! soon won't be able to make a turn without a big flashing sign on window telling us it is safe to make the turn
Most GM vehicules have a fully loaded trip computer that gives separate pressure reading for all 4 tires (as well as current fuel effciciency and etc.) which could explain why the Duramax Sierra would not rev higher than 1700rpm. However the Vibe being a Toyota product, it doesn't have that fully loaded trip computer and only a light comes on when tire pressure sensor has a problem. Let's hope that the vibe doesn't have an RPM limitation caused by the sensors. I know some cars will also turn off traction control when sensors detect low-pressure.Now completly opposite to what I just said about GM vehicules's trip computer... My friend has a 2006 Chevrolet cobalt with TPMS that also gives out detailed pressure readings for all tires (like most GMs) and in the winter she can drive without sensors without any problems other than a very annoying light warning x 4.

I never thought about that..... it WOULD be damn funny.....I doubt it would work though, unless your spare is a true full size tire, it's probably inflated at a much higher pressure than a regular tire so you,d need to reset the sensor. And beside, you'd need 4 spare tires in your trunk to keep all 4 sensors in the green so unless you plan to drive around with your 4 alloys in the trunk it's probably not going to work.

My bf put my winter tires on last weekend while he was here and the light isn't on on my dash, thank God! I thought I'd have to deal with that for 6 months. I'm not questioning it - just glad it isn't on.Now if I can just find a parts store here that carries the winter wiper blades in the sizes for the Vibe I'll be set!

Same situation here this morning with new winter tires ans new rims. After calling OnStar about the lights in the dash, the guy told me to contact dealer to desactive it. It this true that you can do that? But, i found very interesting what Merlin told to us: spare tire.I also found something good in a Matrix forum. What do you think about that?http://matrixowners.com/?showtopic=78561Humm26

I guess it saves you to have to look at a piece of tape on your dash... probably a little overkill though..
