Vibe AWD: I have a persistent rotten egg smell when ever I stop for a stop sign, at lights, parking, etc.Have used higher oct. no results.Any one having the same problem ?
heres what gm technical assistance to me when i hada vibe in for the same complaintswitch brand of gas ( not bp)should go away in 3,000 milesmy 04 does not seen to make this smell but,,, im using speedway gas
Also try switching grades. When I was using Amoco regular 87 octane and I would get the smell if I was hard on the motor before it was fully warmed up. After it was fully warmed up it would go away. I started using Amoco premium 93 octane recently and the smell has totally gone away.
My Base Vibe also had a sulfur smell, noticed mainly when I parked the car in the garage. But that was in the winter. Since spring and the warmer weather, with my car finally breaking in, I haven't noticed the smell. It's possible that the percent of sulfer in the gas has changed with the warmer weather too.KSNeptune
I've experienced this only a couple of times over the past year (30,000km), both times in the winter when the car was cold. I didn't do anything specific to stop it, it just went away on it's own. I buy regular gas from a variety of dealers so I suspect the problem smell wasn't related to the type of gas. It did seem to stop once the car was warmed up and it didn't happen all the time when it was cold, go figure.

Stoping at the atm yucky smell. esp. with window open...
This is a known problem that has something to do with the catalytic converter....Not sure what the solution is though...I use Shell a lot, never had the problem myself...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
how many miles are on your Vibe? Could be a break in thing, I suppose. But I had a similar symptom on my '98 ZX2 about a month ago. Turned out the timing was off just a little. If it's not under warranty any more, you could look at the spark plugs to see if they are wearing abnormally. Also, does the car seem to lack power when starting in first gear?
