Was driving the other day and I was in first trying to hit lift 6000 rpm. I hit 6000 and the tranny just kinda died on me! Was weird whole car just acted like it was in neutral when I gave it gas. so I shifted up two gears and it started driving again. I Than from next stop sign tried it again and all was fine. Anyone have any problems of this nature or does anyone have some sluggish pickup at times?

Almost sounds like a clutch problem. I've not experienced anything like that. The only time I notice the car is sluggish is when I get down to the last quarter tank of fuel. Other than that...Something definitely doesn't sound right there though.

quote:8100? lol when my gt is cold it's almost like it comes out of gear if I floor it and it usually happens right when i hit lift. Exactly. The rev limiter is set to kick in at 6K until the engine warms up. I found this out the hard way a while back. Scared me to death! Fortunately, someone on this site (forget who now, it was a year ago) was able to set me straight.
I confirm the rev limiter, i'm an engineer at gm and owner of a GT, same thing happened to me one day. I confirmed with someone who is familiar with that engine, the rev limiter will kick in at around 6k until the engine is warm enough to prevent long term damage.
