Cabin Air Filter

Post by slvrvibes »

After almost 2 yrs of ownership, I finally got around to changing my cabin air filter and it looked disgusting. After putting my glove compartment back together, now the door has a slow opening effect. Like it is opening in slow motion. I tried to loosen the screw to see if maybe I had tighten it too much causing the door to open slowly, but that didn't fix it. Oh well.Anyway, here are the new and old filters next to each other.

Maybe the little piston wasn't connected properly before.

I just ordered one last week. Ours is about 2 1/2 years old, so I'm sure it's perty.

Yep! That's pretty much like mine looked like. And it had captured dust bunnies, leaves, etc. I vacuumed and cleaned it until I could get a new one. Replacements arrived today from cgenterprises.com Price was less than half of OEM or Delco at autopartswarehouse. It even came with picture instructions and it was installed very easily. Filter was labelled with "this side up" which is always helpful. Hoping for improved cooling from the AC.

I bought my Vibe in early 2003 and just changed mine 5 days ago...it looked like the inside of a dirty vacuum bag.My a/c now blows the air faster.

I bought my 2004 Vibe from a private owner back in 01/08 and finally got around to changing the cabin air filter yesterday w/ a Purolator C35644 filter that I bought from PartsAmerica.com for $38.99. I suspected that the filter had never been changed, but couldn't believe the crap that I found sitting on top of the filter. We have a lot of maple trees in SE Michigan and the top of the filter was covered with "maple helicopters". I ended up ripping part of the filter while pulling it out because of the junk wedging it in. Before inserting the new one, I vacuumed the compartment as best I could with a long wand and then tested the blower up to #4 power without hearing anything tumbling around in either the motor or ducting. For anyone who's interested in seeing what a 75,500 mile filter looks like, I'll share a few pics.
