This is my first post on genvibe and I was wondering if anyone had an answer to a question. I was told by a Pontiac sales person that the Vibe and Toyota Matrix tail lights were the same. Does anybody know if this is true? I've been looking for euro tail lights for over a year with no results so I'm hoping I wasn't mislead.
I don't get it, the 09's have euro lights why can't somebody manufacture euro lights for the older vibes? That's pretty much the last thing I'm wanting to do.
The next best thing is the get red outs, red vinyl that covers the yellow so they look like the old vibe GT-R concept. These can be purchased from bluebat for like 20 bucks.http://s2.photobucket.com/albu...e2005/?

Hi there, Regarding any of the OEM tail lights for Vibe/Matrix for the '09 and previous model, I can answer any of your questions. I am a NPD Engineer for the actual lights. I helped develop and mature the lamps to mass production level. Our company still makes the previous model in our service section and we currently make the Vibe and Matrix models in our mass production section of the plant. I personally went to Japan 3 times that year to help mount the lamps on Toyota fixtures. That was exciting to see actual vehicles prior to launch. I can tell you for sure that the Vibe and Matrix lamps are "way" different. But remember, the cars are made on the same platform (Corolla). Just different quarter panels. Regarding aftermarket stuff... All I can say is that you should make sure that the manufacturer puts it in writing that the lamps conform to FMVSS CMVSS regulations. During new model launch, we test our lamps to verify compliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. If a company puts a lamp out there to mount to your car, they may place the words, "for off road use only" on the carton. Also, your lamp should have a "DOT" mark on the lamp somewhere. Without it, they're not liable for it's photometric performance. If you get in an accident (for example - hit from behind) and your lamps are aftermarket, without proof that your lamps pass these regulations, you are liable. Big problem. Something to consider.- Jim
