Are you a Hard/Medium/Soft Core Vibe Owner?

Post by BlueCrush »

HCVO = Hard Core Vibe Owner (Mod as much as I can and go to as many meets as possible no matter how far)MCVO = Medium Core Vibe Owner (Some mods and local meets only)SCVO = Soft Core Vibe Owner (Little/no mods and/or little/no meets)I think am hard core for the amount of times I have modded my Vibe(lol) but more medium core for the types of mods. For meets I would say medium core since I have organized a couple meets but soft core for the distance I am willing/able to go for meets. So, overall I would say I am a MCVOHow about you?

Had to vote medium as the work schedule will not allow for long trips very often, and lets face it, in Oregon not much is close-by. The best I have been able to do so far is design tees/hoodies for those who can go to meets. I am a hardcore wanna-be when it comes to mods though, "Conspiracy" is a work in progress

MCVO, I'd be HC, but as much as I like the Borla Exhaust, DC Sports Header, and another AFE SRI, I just don't want to have such a loud car... again.. plus as I get older, it seems like I like to stay home with the family more.

I drove a couple of times to TO a few years back for a Vibe meet and a MO meet. I would love to drive up again to MI to have a mini meet or something but for the time being I am trying to get the Montreal scene started up again so all this I guess I am a medium well done? lol!

These are the comments this site can do without bud.Just because you own a subie makes you the judge to all this. This is a Vibe site remember, you seem to forget that. That's what makes the Vibe unique, the lack of aftermarket support. The ones who do make their's stand out should be commended not riduculed which you do on a regular basis.I'd love to pull beside you in my Chevelle and stomp that subie you have which I could do in 2 of my 4 gears, you know drag racing is a recognized motorsport, but judging by the comments in your sig you don't seem to think so.

Dissapointed... one in the same really... I didn't post that to start anything, and i'm glad you didn't take it that way... I was simply stating some facts that many here tend to forget... I know i'm always talking about my Subaru community, and on here that's like salting a wound, but, if this had been a Subie meet, there would have been stellar attendance... FOR THE SIMPLE FACT, that they are much more of a hardcore vehical, with many more hardcore owners, heck, I just saw a sale post for a 3.0l H6 motor pushing 800hp, that would drop in to just about ANY subie, THAT IS HARDCORE. I love my Vibe bretheren, but, my heart lies elsewhere... I love my Vibe, but, I can't see following the path that some here have... The ends just don't justify the means.. I think that holds true for many of our Vibe owners..

Step back please, and think about WHY you bought your Vibe, please, just for a second... Did you buy your Vibe in the hopes to have a 10sec car... doubt it... that's WHY you have a Chevelle(killer BTW)... Did you buy your vibe to go racing of ANY sort, didn't think so.. Sure it's unique, so unique there isn't any support for it... sure you can mish-mash parts together, but it's not the point... Sure, drag racing is a HIGHLY recognised sport, but, am I wrong in saying that ANY and I mean ANY fool with the "money" can go fast in a straight line??? How many tards do YOU know, that don't have a clue, yet still drive a fast car, because they have the money to... seriously... I go on about my Subie, because it's roots lie in a place OF performance... And I tend to limit my "Subie talk" to general or OT, if I reference it in other places like the Tech sections, it's only because of my expierence with them and I ALWAYS state when my knowledge IS Subie only, and it only comes up if it relates.. Any other comments, Subie related are purely out of fun and razzing... nothing more...

I didn't say your points weren't true. But it's the constant sarcasm about the Vibe is what gets me and there is no need for it,maybe just tone it down a little because I'll be on your (removed) about it all the time now.I originally bought the vibe as a family car and because it looked weird.I didn't plan on doing anything with it,then the s/c came up for a great price from my buddy Brian and the rest is history.I know it's not the fastest car around, but it's damn fun.I love scoobies too,I'm looking at buying a WRX in September/October,so I understand where you are coming from.I think there are tards in every sport, but drag racing gives you the best bang for the buck.

I make no qualms about where my heart lies, and it's NOT here, but at the same time I feel that I have solid info on/in the sections of GenVibe I typically post in (Mostly audio and tire/suspension sections) I've never once eluded to me being some sort of Vibe wizard, I try and provide as much GOOD info as I can, and I always mention if it's based in my Subie world or in my Vibe world... I have 1000% more experience in one VS the other..

Thats why you pay the money and get them professionally done in matte black. A whole lot more cleaner black and holds up alot longer. Mods are a pain sometimes, but you just have to learn from mistakes and perfect them.

I'm a softie. Only had it 3-4 months, haven't been hit by the mod bug yet, the truck kind of burned me out on doing those things. Only thing I've done is change to Mobil 1 and put a new tire on it.

Hard core here. I absolutely love my Vibe. It is unique, and I have put in a ton of time and work to make it that way. You do not have to have a fast car to be hardcore in any way. If you have a deep passion in your vehicle, no matter what it is, you are hardcore in my eyes. Yeah its just a Vibe, but its a sweet one at that. Nothing can take that away from me.

You do realize that if your one tire islarger than the others the rotation is at different speeds and you will torch your differantials right? because your awd if your tread dept is not almosts exactly the same you need to replace all four tires

I agree. The car doesn't have to determine the hardcore factor, it's the drivers and what they think of the car. Vibes wont EVER be fast or race cars sure...that's why no on e here has modded them towards that direction Vibes are however awesome cars to customize for show and stuff like that. If I had more money I would have a ton of custom body work done on my car.So yeah, Subaru's are popular because they are faster and in rally racing and all that, Mustangs and stuff are popular because people THINK they are fast (HAHA!). So basically I think that a car's power influences the buyers and their willingness to customize (with the exception of some low riders). No one's going to change their minds, I understand that but a car doesn't have to be fast to make it a show car

Eh, you'd be surprised...a lot of people DON'T care about them lol...well they care in the sense that they paid money for an expensive investment and don't want it to be wasted but a few people here over time and A LOT of people outside of here wouldn't care if it was a Vibe or a Civic, or a Stratus, as long as it ran and had four wheels People like that I really don't care to associate with. You're right though, most people on here joined for that reason, because they enjoy the car to an extent so I guessssssssss that's good enough for me

It's been a year today since I got mine - I loved it after I first got it and 21,500 miles later, I still love it. It's doing exactly what I hoped it would do but the only thing I've done to it is (frequent) routine maintenance and buy a mat for the cargo area. But just because I'm a SCVO doesn't mean I love my car any less than a MCVO or a HCVO…

Sometimes OEM is just right. Except for tires. Stock tires are usually not the best. And if it came with steelies, they probably need help, too.

SCVO, currently on my 2nd Vibe (2005, now 2009). I enjoy reading about what the rest of you are doing with the car, but I have no desire to attempt any of it. (Hey, I do have a mod - the car came already pinstriped by the dealer. )

I only do modding, so i guess I'm a MCVO. Vibes are made like they were to be economy cars, nothing more. There is mediocre support out there for it, but mainly exterior stuff. The only engine mod exclusively for the vibe I can really think of is the supercharger, and some other mods for the vibe GT. I'm a strong believer in my Vibe's capabilities, but it will always be viewed as a grocery getter, not racing material. Sure I may race it sometimes on the streets, but it's always when I am meeting up with some friends for an organized get together. But yes, everyone here cares for their Vibe and want to keep it running for as many miles as possible, and that's why we are here. Whether it's just to look up something for an oil change, or to do a tranny swap, we all care to some degree. It reminds me of school lol.

I think most understand it's not a race car and have already surrendered trying to make it fast. The only other route (with regard to modding) is to be a show car which I think is what we are talking about. I don't race with the Vibe anymore because it's pointless. I'll take out my bike if I want to go fast. I want the Vibe to force people to stare and I want the stereo to pound holes in the concrete underneath my tires. If I had more money, this thing would be in magazines lol. I might actually enter it into Auto Rama in Detroit this year just to see if she'll be accepted.

i'm a soft core here...i try to drive it as softly as possible to see how high i can get my mpg...but no matter how soft i try to drive it, sometimes when accelerating from a stop the car jumps forward too quickly making it seem like i'm flooring it from a stop...i think the 2.4L is too sensitve? i don't know but it's not a bad thing, i just need to practice accelerating more smoothly i guess.
