Vibe Parts Questions

Post by omarq »

Hello everyone... I had a quick question for you vibe owner's out there..How long when opened are your gas hatch struts? From the end of the ball joint to the other end of the ball joint?Another question? What does your blower motor look like... does it look like this:or does it have a shiny metal plate on the bottom and a pipe hanging off it

I'm going to assume he meant glass hatch struts, in which case, I will try to measure tonight, but I think it is 9" compressed and 16" extended...be wary that there are lifting struts for the glass and for the hatch. Is this for a first generation Vibe or a second generation Vibe (09+)?For what it's worth, this is the illustration on the blower motor:

First Gen 04 Vibe... I'm looking for the measurements for the hatch struts... not the glass. Both of those blower motors are pictures I found for a 04 Vibe. They look nothing alike... the one I have in my car is the top one. I'm curious to know what other people have.. your illustration has that drain pipe on it like the bottom one... but mine is like the top one.Omar

Quote, originally posted by kevera »Why don't you measure the ones on your Vibe.Excellent point. If I could I would. Because the Vibe I'm working on is 2.5 hours away locked in a garage. I have a matrix in my garage. Quote, originally posted by kevera »And are you looking to get good prices for us on these parts??? If I could I would. I'm trying to make sure I get the exact right parts for it. BLOWER: Most online places list the top one as the one I need, but a few others list the bottom one. I remember seeing mine and I don't remember the drain tube.GAS HATCH STRUTS: Most online listings show the matrix and the vibe hacing the same struts... but I find it hard to believe since the hatches are soo different. If someone could verify I would really appreciate it.

I would say the hatch struts are the same and for the Blower motor the difference would be Cold climate cars have different ones than Warm cars, for the rear seating area

I just changed the blower motor in my 98 Grand Prix and in the instructions, it told me which plug to use and where to use it at depending on the OEM blower motor. Basically it said it it was metal, silver, thenthe plug goes x, if its black then the plug goes y. I would say just go to your auto parts store and buy it and the instructions will clear things up for you.

FYI: The parts places aren't exactly correct.Matrix struts: 17 5/8"Vibe struts 19 1/2"So you could put matrix struts in a vibe, but you would lose some of the wide open height. But not the other way around.
