I picked up my Vibe GT yesterday. This is my first commute to work. So far I gotta say I am happy with it. When I test drove it I "drove it like I stole it" and I was impressed with the handling. Despite what some Motor Week posts claim, it handles as well as well as my 2001 VW Beetle Sport I had. Now I am Hyper Mileing. Something I learned to do with the E. No traffic I got 26mpg but most of the time 20 with the Element. One of the reasons why I traded it in. Last night I had fun with the new vibe so I did exceed the posted speed limit. Now today I hyper miled to work...So far in between yesterday and today I averaged 33.6MPG. I will post more later. After 10 fill ups I should ahve an accurate real world MPG. After my first oil change and switch to Mobil 1 the mpg should increase by 1 or 2 mpg.
Congrats on the new purchase! My wife really liked the Element, but she really likes the new vibes too... Maybe I can persuade her into getting a new vibe in a few years!
congrats on the purchase!! pics?the element is functional but yes ive heard not the best mileage. thats not bad mileage for a 2.4l engine. You do mostly hwy driving when going to work and back?
I'm going to take pics after work. Just got the Vibe Gt last night! The paint is iridescent on my Gt. the commute is a mix. 20 miles country roads 43mph from swansea to attleboro, 11 miles highway at 75+ mph until traffic to walpole, then 18 miles country roads at 45mph with a traffic snarl in the end when I get into Framingham, MA.

I like the element, but I passed on it because of poor gas milage. That was when gas was still around two bucks a gallon. I never even dreamed it would get this high.

congrats on the new vibe, what's the horsepower on the gt up to these days. Always a good move to step up from the base model and get the gt, wish i would have done it to begin with.

158HP It's a few less ponies than the origianl GT. The Original was 180HP, and you can probably increase the 2009 11HP or so with the air induction kit from TRD. I'm going to leave it for now to see what I can get for MPG. So far I'm hypermileing... something I learned to do with the Element. I do plan on doing the TRD air induction mod if I can increase HP and not affect MPG. 32.6MPG with the new Vibe.. only 129 miles on it. I'm sure that number is going to go up as I break it in, and after the first oil change and switch to Mobil 1 sythetic since I'd like to go 10k miles between changes. I drive 100 miles/day Quote, originally posted by NibCrom »Nice switch. Welcome!

I've got just over 600 mile on the odometer now and decided to see what lift is all about. Around 6300rpms the power available increases big time! My element only had enough power to pass or take off on the highway from an entrance to 80mph in a decent amount of time.. Now this GT I can actually play with at a track. I guess first mod will be a TRD air intake.
the 09's don't have "lift" see if you can find a buddy who owns any vibe, matrix or corolla from 03-06... all the gt's on the vibes and the xrs's on the matrix and corolla's have "lift" XRS model comes with a high-performance VVTL-i (variable timing and lift) version of 1.8-liter engine with 180 horsepower and available six-speed manual transmission if you look your engine cover don't have the vvt"L"

Still not bad acceleration on the 09 if you drive it right. I was able to pull a few Gs and feel it im my gut. Something you can't do with a Honda E.I think the original plan I had will still work. Next year I'll drop a gredy Supercharger in for an xB.
