Joatmon. I'm going to add this mod to my car so I can keep my cell phone charging when the car's not running. I just wanted to know how it's been working out for you, and if you would do anything different? It seems like a sound mod to me. I bought the power plug from Blue Crush forever ago, and I'm finally going to but the thing in the car. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6403

first, I'm not sure it needs a new thread, I would have noticed if you'd posted in the other second, I haven't had any problems. It's always on, and I forget that's not the way it came. I have left my cell charging in there for a whole day, I had my GPS in there for a day, forgot it was on, and the car battery wasn't affected. I did the mod to my brother's 05 Vibe, and it's working fine for him as well. It's most handy when you are away from home and don't have the AC adapter for some thing. (I tend to carry the car chargers in the car, not much use around the house) I've used it at work, when the cell starts nagging about the battery running down, take it out to the car, plug it in, come back an hour later and it's magically charged. Where I park I would not want anything pilferable to be visible, so having it in the center bin is handy. I'm not sure I'd do anything different. It's just replace a relay with a jumper wire. I like the low cost aspect. I thought about taking the relay apart and soldering it closed, then using that to be the constant connection, as I wondered if maybe vibration would work the jumper loose over time, but I just checked the dates, I did that mod in October 03, had 25K miles on the car then. Now I'm up to 181K, that means that for me that mod has been trouble free for 157,000 miles so far. Just remember the jumper wire carries the current for the outlet, so you'd want to use a wire gauge that can handle the 15 or 20 amps (whatever the P/POINT fuse is). Not a big worry, just don't use a bread bag twist tie. You could probably stick a paper clip in there and make it work (I am not recommending that )I am curious about the 09's though. We know GM/NUMMI stopped putting the outlet in the 05-08's, but still ran the wire harness for it. Is there an outlet in there in the 09's, if not, is the wiring still there? We need some of these brave '09 owners to step up and start ripping apart their new cars and post up findings.
