I have only had this vibe for a month. 62K miles on it. I've always thought it ran a little too noisy for me, and I'm told the engine is used in Corolla's. I had the resonator replaced with a new one trying to quiet it down, but no difference. I think some of the noise comes from the intake side of things under the hood. Is it just the way it's supposed to be? At highway speeds it's not too noticable, but taking off from stops gets loud. Does that describe good enough?

ya know, I came out of a fairly quiet Olds LSS to this Vibe. I may (as Kavera mentioned) eventually get used to it. The noise sounds like it comes from right underneath me. I think of it as a "growly" noise. I thought the car might have an intentionally loud exhaust, considering the diameter of the tailpipe. I also thought a lot of 4 cylinder cars were quieter than the vibe. I drove several before I bought my '03, so I guessed it was the design, but I wonder, ,has anyone ever tried a different exhaust design? Like off a Corolla?, or am I totally off base.
