Seats: Up or Down?

Post by VforVIBE »

As we all know, Toyo er...Pontiac gave the Vibe 4 fold down seats, so my question is, how do you normally keep them when it's just you with no cargo?

Up, unless like the others said, if they need the extra room. It IS a very nice feature though, and would be upset without it.

So far I have only put the seat down to transfer my wheels to the shop where I installed them. I like that I didn't have to have my brother haul them for me. My Vibe and I will get along just fine.

due to some permenant cargo in the rear the seats are allways up. And the passenger seat is not all to be moved/reclined becasue it would throw off the symmetry with my seat : )

All seats up. Rear headrests removed for improved visibility.

I have removed rear headrests for better visibilityas well. The front headrests are on backwards for better comfort. The seats are all up till they need to go down. They stay down till they need to go up.

I never thought of putting the front headrests on backwards.

All the seats stay up unless I am carrying tons of cargo. Most large objects, i.e. kayaks, bikes, snowboards are on top.

My seats generally stay up all the time. If the hubby is driving, the seats are almost always down.

I keep the back seats down. They go up of course when I have passengers. It eliminates the headrests blocking the rear view. And, I'm always ready to load my art gear for an outing or delivery. The carpet I got for it makes for a nice deck.

With a child carseat strapped in the back, the seats stay up unless absolutely necessary and there's no other option... taking the carseat out and reinstalling it (properly) is a MAJOR PITA.I can't wait the day when I can just flop the seats down whenever it's convenient.....

I've never noticed the headrests giving me issue with my rear visibility. If a car is so close that my rear headrests are blocking my sight of him, then he is WAY too close. I keep all the seats up. My custom made cargo cover fits perfectly across the back of the seats, easy removal for big storage, takes not even a minute to take apart or put back in. Not to mention the car is quieter now that noises can't echo back there.(this was pre my LED 3rd brake lamp install)

well I have my back seats down for the subs and amps. one amp is mounted to the back seat so I lay it down for more air circulation and so my subs and amp for the subs get more air as well because the last thing i need is a really hot amp in the back and plus I like it like that... I dont like back seat drivers hahah

Back seats down... unless passengers are aboard. Weak Monsoon sub is a little more noticeable with rear seats down, too. Did someone say 'headrest backwards' on front seats? Never thought to do that. I learn something every day here on this forum!

...in my 2009 Vibe it's front stock (non-folding), and left passenger seat up but right passenger seat down (40-60 rear seats).

I believe, at least for the 09-10 years, the cargo management package had to be ordered for the front passenger seat back to fold FORWARD down. That included the rear cargo storage system and the front passenger flat-folding seatback with rear table surface for $195.00.

I keep all of my seats up. I prefer how it looks with them all in the upright position. It also makes it easier for me to keep stuff in the back within reaching distance.I'm still trying to conjure up a use for the front folding seat. I don't haul long boards very often so I'll have to get pretty creative. --I forgot to comment on that custom cargo cover posted earlier. That's a pretty slick idea! I wouldn't mind trying to throw something like that together to hide my subwoofer and other cargo.

I like how the rear view mirror visibility is clearer, and I can better tell where the rear of the car is, but I'd prefer a spot to put things, and there's an echo when they're down. Not sure if the echo is good or bad, but it does echo.

Back seats folded down 99% of the time except when we have some very occasional passengers. We bought that specific car mostly for the cargo space we get that way.
