Brighter clock?

Post by Aglaia »

Hello -I got my 2009 Vibe a couple of months ago, always drive with the lights on (as in always on, not automatic on), but have also noticed that this automatically dims the clock. This makes it cirtually impossible to see what time it is during bright daylight... there has to be a way to get around this, but which little switch or what am I missing? :-)Thanks!

Welcome! The 03-08's had a position on the dimmer whenre if you turned it up it would 'click' and the radio/gauges would be in the brightest position like they are during the day. When I was playing around in the '09 I noticed that it had a similar click when turning the knob all the way to the right I believe it was... Although I didn't have access to the keys to see exactly what that did. Does that brighten anything up?

this click does nothing for the radio or the clock therin. It works great for the gauge lights though.

Welcome to Genvibe! You have DRL (Daytime Running Lights). Set the switch on the headlight/turn signal stalk to Off and forget it. When your DRL's are on, the guages and radio will be brighter to compensate for the daylight. When it gets dark, your headlights will turn on automatically and dim the display a little. why would you need full headlights during the day? See page 11 on this pdf for details:

Thanks for your prompt replies! There seems to be a ton of information around here, and I can't believe I didn't find this place sooner :-)No, the click doesn't help with the radio/clock display.I prefer having full headlights on as it's generally very sunny here and that just makes you more visible to other drivers. You are correct, if I just forget about that the display on the clock/radio does remain brighter during the day.
