When I ordered my base Vibe, according to the brochure, there was a standard power remote opener of the lift glass. When I picked up the car, I realized that there is no power or even manual remote opener of the liftglass or rear door: each time I want to open them, I have to use the key... quite inconvienient, especially if I have only one key and it's in ignition. Had I known this feature would not be available, I'd have been willing to pay extra for it.I wonder, would I have a valid point complaining to my dealer/GM about this?
No, it does not. But I have the brochure about the Vibe and in the "Standard & Optional Equipement", in the "Interior" columnt, it says: Liftglass--power remote release--S S S; in other words, it's standard on Vibe, AWD and GT.
I think when they are talking about the power release for the liftglass they are talking about the window and the release being the one on the dash. I have the power package on my vibe so I am not sure if they all have it but if you hit the button on the dash the rear window pops open. This could be what they are talking about, either that or I am smoking something....

Maybe it's a typo. There is nothing about that on the website:http://www.pontiac.com/pontiacjsp/vibe/ ... rce=lnavOn Vibes with the optional power package, the release button is on the lower left of the dash, to the left of the steering wheel next to the coin holder and below the power mirror control. Check to see if you have a button there. There is also a second button on the key fob for those Vibes with the power package and keyless entry.

Jack, I posted the same query a couple of months ago when I got my Vibe. We are probably only 2 of a handful of people who didn't get the power package so there wasn't much help out there. I complained to GM who pointed out that the brochure stipulates that the info in it is subject to change. The dealer was sympathetic but couldn't do anything other than ordering a new car and waiting another 4 months. I found having an extra key helps. I also emailed GM saying why does the car come with power mirrors but not a hatch release. Even the cheapest cars have a trunk release as standard equipment. Ugh !!!
While I'm sorry you guys don't have a feature that you would like to have, I'm curious to know how many people actually use the rear lift-glass. We should make a poll. I think it's easier just to open the entire lift-gate, especially if you use the flimsy rear cargo cover.
I also have the Base Vibe and me too I have been suprised when I see there's no remote for the liftglass or for the back door.I read it about it in the "brochure" too before have got my Vibe.Do you think we would be able to have a power door in aftermarket piece ???

Pretty stingy GM should honour what they said in the brocure. What if they decided to substitute an engine with a 3 cylinder firefly engine they had laying around?Failing that, hopefully someone can figure out a way to give you a remote opening in the aftermarket.

Frosty 5 speed Vibe Power & Safety Packages. Naturally Aspirated my gallery
[QUOTE]Jack, I posted the same query a couple of months ago when I got my Vibe. We are probably only 2 of a handful of people who didn't get the power package so there wasn't much help out there. I complained to GM who pointed out that the brochure stipulates that the info in it is subject to change. I've just got an email from GM stating the above, i.e., the brochure is subject to change. Well, I do agree with it--after all, some of the errors made in the brouchre could turn out to be very expensive if it wasn't for the disclimer! However, once GM realized there is an error, would not be it possible to notify the dealers so that they could inform their customers? Although I don't need any power doors and windows, I'd love to be able to open the lift glass or the rear door from within the car. My previous two cars, made in 1983 and 1993 did not have a power package, yet I was able to manually open the trunk via a remote release. By the way, when I was picking up the car, the dealer was surprised the button was not there; then he tried to convince me it was impossible to actually open the lift glass, but finally another dealer showed us how to open the liftglass using the key.

My '83 Sunbird was that way. The Vibes inside hatch release is electric. This is why you can open the glass without the electric locks.
Vibenorth I believe you do not have a hatch release because you could open it when you are driving and if you had a pet or a small child this could be dangerous.Having one on a trunk is different and does not involve all the peril's of a hatchback.
Wow, I'm glad I have a GT with the power package. I haven't used my realift glass nor have I ever had to use the key to open the latch. It would be a real pain to have to ALWAYS use your key to open the hatch. Door locks are a MUST then on a Vibe.
Always read your brochure, then compare the info with the car you are going to buy. When you have chosen the actual car, compare again and write down the serial # to compare against the paperwork BEFORE you sign-off on the vehicle. Then NO surprises!
Not sure what to tell ya dude. I just checked my vibe brochure, power liftglass is listed under the power group value package, and is clearly marked as an available feature. Nowhere under standard features does it list any power hatch releases.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
why don't people check out their car before they buy it? Just one of the many questions in need of an answer.
