I'm going to replace a noisy rear wheel hub assembly. If anyone has done this repair any information would be greatly appriciated. I have an '04 AWD w/ ABS. I have ordered the new hub, but I concerned about how to remove the axle nut???

I'm not so sure I want to tackle it after seeing what is involved. I'm not sure I could check the back lash, and then if it is off you have to start over?? I appreciate the info!! I think I will find someone to do it now that I have the parts. I'm going to list another topic so if you have any info on it I would appreciate it also. Thank you very much!!
The only thing I can tell you is I had it done at A dealer and by the time I was done it cost me $900 and 3 days with no car!!!! Had to be done and I didnt have time,so the dealer really got me good on this one.....GRRRRRRRRRRR
I am looking to replace my hubs soon but want to know if I can do it.2005 vibe awd with abs 80k milesI know it's the hubs making noise as my 99 grand am made the same sound when it was time to replace them (I did the work myself 3 times in 80k miles). What were the pics you had posted? Is there a walkthrough somewhere? Any other advice? Has anyone actually done it themselves?
Had a mechanic do the hub assemblies only to find out the majority of noise was coming from one of the carrier assembly bearings in the rear differential (right assembly did have a noisy flat spot in the rotation so it wasn't a total waste). To diagnose, -Securely lift vehicle (all four wheels, the higher the better). -Start engine-place transmission in drive- place metal end of flathead screwdriver against parts that may be making noise (hub assemblies, carrier assembly, pinion bearings) and place your ear against the plastic end. You're basically using your screwdriver as a stethoscope to find the noise. In my case, after the semi-noisy hub assembly was repaired, the remaining noise was coming exclusively from the carrier assembly. As an aside, buy the parts from Toyota and not GM. GM Dealer wanted $240 for the parts.Toyota Dealer wanted $76 for the parts.SAME PARTS!
