Hidden feature discovered!

Post by ragingfish »

So I was just checking out things under the hood today, I popped the top on the washer fluid tank, and decided to pull up the "filter" thing at the top so I could try and see how full (or empty) the tank was by glancing down the fill neck...As I pulled it up, there was something attached to it. I'm like, ok, whatever. So I kept pulling...and pulling...and pulling...and it finally came out...it looked like a dipstick...And sure enough, it is! We have a washer fluid dipstick! It has markings for low and normal on it...Granted, I just add fluid as needed, but if I was ever unsure, that's pretty damn cool...They don't even tell you about that in the manual. How much you wanna bet Pontiac doesn't even know it's there. ROFL!

Ya, I noticed that also. I think I read that the U.S. Vibes/Matrix's have the dipstick in the washer tank, and Canadians have a low fluid light instead. Could be wrong again though.

I know the Canadians have a low fluid light for sure. Why we can't have that too is beyond me. You can only get a 6 disc changer without a moonroof. On the same principle, maybe you can only get a low fluid light with a cluster that's in kilometers.

I too would rather have the light than the dipstick. Oh well.

That started the discussion of the washer fluid light vs. the dipstick for the two countries. Canada gets the light, the U.S. gets the dipstick. Although, the dipstick is kinda pointless to me. If you bothered to open the hood and take the cap off the washer fluid resovoir, then why wouldn't you just top it off anyway?
