New 2.5L engine for 2010 maybe?

Post by mjd1001 »

Just read that Toyota has upgraded their 2.4 to a 2.5 for the 2009 Rav4's. The new engine gets 1 mpg better mileage, and 13 more horsepower. Anyone know if there is any chance the Vibe/Matrix will be getting the new engine late in the 2009 model year or for the new 2010 model year?details on toyota's 2.4 to 2.5 upgrade here: http://www.leftlanenews.com/to....html

That would be nice, but I'm holding out for when they put a 3.5L in a Vibe.

Unless they also stop using the 2.4L in the Camry right away, the 2.5L probably won't get in the Vibe until a mid-cycle refresh (as is the case with the Rav4), which would mean 2011 as a 2012 model. The disapointing thing about the Rav4's new 2.5L is that it's still mated to 4 speed auto.Northvibe: Toyota is said to be working on a 2.7L inline4BlueCrush: The Toyota Blade (which is Japan's equivalent of the Vibe/Matrix) has an optional 3.5L V6. I doubt this thing can be very stable while turning...

If they would simply turbo something, we wouldn't have to worry about larger displacement... My 2.0L Subie is pushing around 300hp...
