I hadn't heard of this before, but am not surprised. With the right frequency, the bad guys can open your garage door to burglarize your house. They can capture your phone signal and clone it to run up your minutes. They can also unlock & get into your car without setting off the alarm or breaking a window ....Nothing is really safe from someone who really wants it.

As stated many many time, locks/alarms only keep honest people honest... Do a search on "lock bumping" and bask in the shock and awe... lol.. Think you are safe.... think again...

anything over a wifi signal is easily hacked. Oh yeah on cell phones, make sure to keep bluetooth off..... (most phone with it off still have it stealth on though....)

Depends on the garage door. Certain ones use rolling codes that change each time you hit the button which does not allow them to capture the signal as the computer in the opener is changing the code constantly. The older styles do use a single or 2 coded system which are easier to hack.

I know WPA radius is much harder, but come on, anything human made can be hacked.

I was driving around town one day with kismet running and probably 30% of the (~160) APs I saw were unsecured, and less than half the secured ones were WPA. If somebody is hacking with malicious intentions, they have much easier pickings; if they are doing it for the challenge, they're probably not going to screw you.All that is really a moot point if you follow other good security practices, such as using SSL. Even wired connections can be tapped if you don't use SSL or a VPN. Obviously, if you have a home network with windows simple sharing and someone breaks into the encrypted wifi, you would have serious problems. We could honestly debate the what-ifs all day long, but I'd rather not.
