I am about to become the owner of a neptune GT Loaded (Getting it friday night) and I have a question that I can not get the answer to.Why can you not get the 17 inch wheel/tire package with the sunroof. I have been told by dealers that it is due to the speed rating of the tires????I was also told that the 17's made the car too high and therefore there are rollover concerns.thanks.

I also wonder why you couldn't get the DVD Navie with the MoonRoofThe answer to your second question is total B.S. I had 2 Vibes both with 18 inch rims on them And rollover was never a concern. Heck it actually rides and handles better with the Plus Size. I can hit corners and such at higher speeds and the car never slips. It will be even better when I install my springs and front bar in a week.
One more question, Can I get a quick answer as to why the GT seems to sit down and go again at 6000rpm. The dealer explained that it has to do with the cam. just a simple answer that a non mechanic ca n understand would be great thanks
There is a feature on the GT engine that opens the valves wider at 6000+ RPM letting the engine breath more and keep up the pace.I think that's about as simple as it can get.

No one has a definite answer, but we believe that the larger wheels contribute a significant amount of twisting in the body. Twisting that is counteracted by a crossbeam in the roof. That particular crossbeam has to be removed and/or relocated to accomodate a sunroof. This particular adjustment does not give the body enough strength, thus makes it unsafe to have larger wheels and a moonroof. Now as to why you cna't have a DVD and a moonroof, I can't explain that one...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
The only guess I would have as far as the nav system would be visibility of the LCD screen. I believe someone had mentioned that in an earlier post, but I don't really remember now. I can't say for certain that it would really make a difference, but it's a thought.
Someone with a service manual might be able to tell where the DVD-Nav GPS antenna runs to. If it runs through the roof where the sunroof is, that may be why you can't get both together.I doubt glare or too intense light from the sunroof is an issue. The sunroof comes with a panel that can be slid shut to block out the sun. Most groupings of add-ons aren't based on practicality, but rather on how the dealers can make the most profit. For example, telling you you can't substitute 17" wheels if your car has a sunroof doesn't mean you won't spend more money on replacement wheels if you want them. So the dealer has made his profit on the original wheels, and someone else (maybe him) will make profit on your aftermarket wheels purchase.KSNeptune

There is nothing that prevents a nav system and moon roof in the same car. Pontiac doesn't sell it that way, though, because the noonroof is part of a package that also includes an audio amp. Same with the nav system... it is part of a package that includes a 6-disc changer. The changer goes under the front passenger seat. So does the amp. That is why you can't have them both.If your next question is, "Why can't they break the packages," then I can't help you.-RTA
