ceiling insulation

Post by jak219 »

So I went to close the sunroof the other day, and the interior cover wouldn't close. After inspecting it, and yanking on it, I found that a strip of insulation had got stuck to the interior sunroof cover. The stuff they use to stick the insulation is freakin sticky, made a mess of the sunroof. Now I have a strip of insulation (see picture) that goes somewhere in the ceiling behind the sunroof. Anyone have any idea where it's supposed to go? I'm tempted to just chuck it, to avoid having it come loose again and get sticky crap all over. Thanks.

Hmm, can't really say for sure. I took down my headliner once and took some photos, but none seem to show a piece like yours. You can check out this thread for the photos I posted: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4600What I really want to know is where that hard drive goes!

My guess is that it goes between the roof and the headliner somewhere.

Hey those are great photos of the headliner, Herb. I noticed some narrow strips of insulation in your car too. I don't see the point of these narrow strips, unless they are to prevent the headliner from vibrating against the metal roof.Just to make sure... the sunroof doesn't normally open completely, right? Mine only opens until the front edge of the window is about 5cm in front of the fuzzy plastic sliding cover.(Unfortunately, the hard drive is just junk I need to throw away. No cool NightRider computer in my car )

its a deadner pad theat sticks to the roof to prevent noise and wobble in the roof. when shutting the doors. we have them on the extended cab on the trucks we build. I'd hold on to it.
