got the Cosmo CAI installed .. whew

Post by vibebob »

after almost 2 hours of cuss'in, fuss'in and sweat'in the kid and I, well mostly the kid, got my Cosmo CAI installed. What a pain in the asp it was. we had trouble with the rubber anti-vibration thing, the fuse box lifter plate and getting the filter on ... but in the end it was totally worth it. just the sound alone is well worth the hassle, get a nice whoosh of air and a deeper sound when you get on the throttle. the kid installed one on his Mazda 3 and he reports 3 mpg city and 6 mpg highway improvement.oh, we did get to spend some quality time together.

a post like this and no photos... did you use the stock filter or did you upgrade it to a better filter?

I had a heck of a time too for those same reasons, but you're right it makes the drive much more satisfying.

Cool man, Now, spend some time with the kids and clean that engine bay... lol... Tell you what I do.. I start with a cold engine, spay over everything with Simple Green, and then drive to the car wash and spray away 95% of the grime with the LOW pressure spray.. then dry, and as you dry you get 95% of the left over 5% of grime... lol...

thanks for the great replies. I was surprised just how close the red tube is to my Salsa, though it doesn't look it in the photo. the engine bay is a little cleaner than it appears, I do need to clean the engine cover Thanks for the tip on cleaning the engine ! how careful do I need to be to avoid getting water on the CAI air cleaner ?
