Door Lock problem

Post by Gil »

Hi all,I have an 06 Vibe base model that had an aftermarket remote starter and door lock package installed by the dealer. Recently the rear passenger door will not lock. It will not lock under power/remote or manually. When I use the power lock, it makes a noise and there is a vibration in that door. Also, the manual lock button is very "loose" and basically will just flip flop back and forth without much resistance. It seems like the power mechanism is working but the lock/latch button is broken or disconnected... Has anyone had this or similar problem? I'm wondering if this is something I could easily fix if I took the door panel off?TIA,

Hi and welcome to GenVibeIt's hard to say about the lock mechinisum, it's sound like one of 2 things. Either A: one of the rods coming off the lock meck/door handle area has come lose and bound up on something or B. The motor for that door has seised up and while the motor runs, the mechanisum doesn't.. It sound like option A to me, considering you can flip the lock "button" so easily...

Well, I took the door panel off (sort of) and have isolated the problem but have a couple problems...The plastic "loop" on the back of the button that the rods hook onto it broken such that the rods won't stay hooked. So, now I'm wondering how much it would cost to get another button mechanism? Also, how does one get the door panel completely off with the manual window handle attached? I couldn't see how to remove the window handle. Thanks,

If you are still under warranty then make the dealer fix it. SInce they installed the aftermarket parts, they better not try to blame them and refuse the warranty.as for how to get the panel all the way off, there is actually a thread here I found with the search tool titled "Removing Door Panel with Manual Window" http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=29965
