how is the stock halogen light output?

hi everyone...i'm new to the forum. i'm looking to buy a 2009 pontiac vibe most likely the GT model. will be getting rid of my 1998 ford explorer for a better mpg car i was wondering how bright is the stock light output on the 09 vibe? does anyone have a picture of the light output? i really want to enjoy a brighter output for a change. my explorer light sucks right now =/also, i notice they have automatic headlights...does that mean at night when you turn the lights turn on by themselves? and when you turn off the car the lights go off?sorry for the bunch of questions...just curious and hope the light output will be better than my current car haha thanks a bunch guys...this seems like a great forum and i look forward to be more active here

Welcome to the Vibedom!!I can not speak directly for the 09's but the previous models the light output is fine once you adjust the aim. The 09's went to a seperate bulb for the high beams like the Matrix already had. There are several bulb upgrades you can choose for better light output, just beware that several of them also have a reduced lifespan.The Automatic Headlight feature has been on all Vibes. And Yes basically you never really have to turn the headlights on at all they come on and off when they need to. Although many here took back that control with a mod to override that feature. I know you mentioned an 09 but my 03 has very nice light output. I also always drive with my fog lamps turned on. The more light the better I say! At any rate, I noticed the light output immediately after we got the car.

i've been searching online but can't really find any pictures of the vibe at night with their lights on. i'm going to see if the dealer will let me test one at night sometime in the next couple weeks...hopefully i can get a feel of the brightness. i'm too excited to get this car!

pictures especially online photos of night shots can not give you an acurate representation of the true light output.Cameras adjust or can be adjusted to manipulate the way it looks color, exposure time, ect.each camera is diffrent. howeve there are a cople of pictures I took that are in my garage thread (just click on my siggy photo and scroll down till you see them.)EDIT: The picture is a tad blury and the lightout put is way better than the picture shows.
