so..i got off work..got home..walked up to my door..found this box sitting there..and knew exactly what it was when i looked at it so now im all excited...i ordered it maybe 2 days ago..so it was super fast shipping..didnt even expect to see it this week..specially with the long weekend ahead of us for canada..so i open it up..everything looks great..took a pic of everything layed out(as pics seen below) and noticed something..then looked over the tube for more..and found another one..camera doesnt show it well but it's there..so i've emailed Paul and asked him what to do..if i send the full thing back..or just the tube..or what..so im excited..and happy..but pissed abit too..specially the first scratch since it'll actually be noticed..if it was the other one i wouldnt worry cause it's at the bottom of the pipe not visable when in the engine bay
I know exactly how you feel. When I ordered my wheels from Tire Rack, 3 were perfect and 1 was gouged by UPS during shipping. Tire Rack replaced it but I was still upset that I couldn't get them installed that day. I'm sure Cosmo will take care of you.
yea i dont think this is ups's fault..cause where the scratch is..there wasnt anything in the box on that side(where the instruction manual is) that would have done it..plus it had the bubble wrap..so i think it was done first and whoever wrapped it didnt realize it
i looked at the bubble wrap that it came in..and it DOES have a cut in it..it seems maybe one of the brackets must have hit it during shipping(UPS..of course)and scratched it.. but the little baggy that the bracket and something else comes in..doesnt have a cut in it..it's weird..im just waiting for Paul to see what im supposed to do
Not to rain on your parade there WaveAction... but let me know how this CAI does with you CEL. I got a non-stop CEL after I installed mine. I ended up taking it out (I didn't want to) but I didn't think it was safe to run the car like that. Now I have a Cosmo CAI just sitting in the box... doing nothing. It's a sad day in my garage since that happened.Your CAI looks much shorter than mine... is that a short ram?

heres another better pic of where it is..u can see the main scratch..then the 2nd one..the 2nd one looks like it's just gouged(sp?) in then painted over..

It'll scratch there anyways - trust me. It's also Cosmo Racing. They make intakes for under $100, it isn't going to be the highest build quality. Some poor child in Hong Kong is probably responsible for painting these things behind a shed with Fleet Farm primer.
does anyone have a pic of this SRI and show any wear of if any?? i just figure i buy something brand new and i expect it to be in brand new shape..not with scratches all over it..no matter if that poor child in hong kong messed up or not..lol

Cold Air Through The Hood FTW! Is the DBW only on base model Vibes? My 06' GT doesn't have it.I totally agree with you on wanting a good looking piece to install. I'm sure Cosmo will take care of ya on this one.

well i got an email from paul today...saying to send it back, writing the RMA on it and "warranty return" and stuff..*EDIT* so i went to both the regular post office..and the ups store in town..both are charging me like $30 to ship it back to him..so im waiting for Paul to see what to do..if not im just gonna keep it and maybe touch up the scratch...i've looked at a few pictures of it installed..the main scratch would be facing towards the firewall/brake reservoir so i may just install it and say the hell with sending it back..to much of a hassle to deal with it
well got another box today...gonna be installing these tomorrow with the intake aswell(finally) will be getting my springs and the struts next week so next weekend those are gonna be in..pics coming soon!
well got around to it, installed the intake..it sounds amazing when i throttle now..and best part..no engine light!but i do have a question for those who have installed it..how'd you hook up the breather hose? i was confused as to actually where to hook the hose up on the engine..so i did it this way for now til someone gives me a better idea.originally i was gonna take that whole breather hose off from the engine and just replace it with the hose that came with the intake..but i didnt cause the hose that came with the intake is to soft and kept bending and would have cut the air offso i just slammed the hose into the original hose as far as i could..then cut it so it went in as shown..theirs probably 1.5-2 inches i used..
As for the extra hose sticking out of your engine, you should install one of those little breather filters. They are pretty cheap and you can find them in most auto parts stores.
does that involve taking and leaving off my engine cover? cause if so i wont do it lol..i gotta find a rad house exactly like the stock one..so i can put it on properly
Quote, originally posted by WaveAction »hmm true..and just cap off the breather inlet for the intake itself right...not a bad ideaHowever, if it connects to the intake, I'd leave it, mine doesn't have a place to connect it, because the '03-'04 was set up differently.

I put a breather on mine, it actually fit under the cover, and the I just blocked off the inlet on the tube with a cap, and tie strapped it on... No CEL, and worked just fine.

took me like an hour and a half..cause i was confused for some reason...that and i installed the intake..but didnt take out the stock air duct thing..so i had to take it back out..then the battery..then the duct..then do it all over again..then i started fiddling with the breather tube thing and seeing different possibilities..but it is easy to install though
well i got 2 more special boxes today!!..actually one was on the 26th and the other yesterday but the post office "forgot" to leave one of those notifications that they came by...so i will have pics up soon and installed this weeekenndddd
Quote, originally posted by WaveAction »i may have to do this then...thanks guys..any specific diameter for the filter? If I remember correctly, it just came in one size.

i've noticed a difference in gas efficiency....even when i put some gas into it just to hear the intake..lol..im gonna have to calculate my mpg next fill up...but got home and got yet another box..this time nothing special..just my Tein T-shirt and my T Stech keychain!here's a pic of the springs/struts in the back of my car...they're going in tomorrow 8am!!
