Hi AllIs there a lit of difference in the 2.4 non-GT and GT on the road? I know that there's difference in suspension, is this difference significant?GT also has some bells and whistles I can easly do without. Also I am looking at manual transmission, so that's presumably the same.Thanks.

I think the GT suspension gives a nice stuff ride. If you don't plan on driving fast then no worries.. if you are, this does help or you can add your own later.
Another thing to remember is that if you want power windows, locks and a few other basic options, the price goes up fairly fast even with the 2.4l model. I was thinking of getting a 2.4l model and realized it would only be a little more for the GT model. The GT model also looks great with the body kit .I love the GT's suspension. It is fairly compliant and handles well for a high roof car.
we probably have different packages in Canada. I played with our packages and was able to build a 2.4 with manual and all major power toys (maybe even 17 inch alloys) for few grand less than GT.I also test drove a 2.4 with updgraded stereo, sunroof, power windows, etc. That car was 2 grand cheaper.I can live without many things, for instance I don't care much for sunroof and fog lights, had both in various cars before, didn't use them much...so the only real issue here is the suspension. if the base suspension is anything like what it used to be on base package in the past, I can live with than

If you got the GT with no sunroof then you are not really paying that much more (about $2000) than a fully loaded 2.4L for what you are getting in return. The suspension is much better on the GT than the base (and the AWD). The body kit elevates it to a new level in the looks department. You also get better seats and those killer 18" rims (which are worth the $2000 right there). Gas mileage is essentially the same.Plus, you get to fraternize with us GT'ers
I have the 2.4L on 17 inches alloys with the basic suspension and that car is not meant for performance driving. I tryed high speed cornering once and there is no way I'm attemtping it again. There was a huge ammount of body roll and I could feel that the car was having a lot of trouble keeping traction. I haven't tryed the GT model but improved suspension is definitly required if you plan to have a sportier driving.

how does the 09 GT suspension compares to prev. generation base? I had a bas 05, I found that the body roll wasn't bad for regular driving. The reason I am asking is that some cars have have setups sloppy even for normal driving, never mind sporty. Sebring comes to mind. Or Cobalt The base 05 wasn't one like that.
