Part Number for Buttons

Post by elrodvoss »

Im looking at makeing a simple Mod for my garage door opener. Basicly im going to mount my garage door opener inside the engine area and basicly wire an "antenna" towards the grill and another wire inside to the left dash control area (where the hatch release is).So, I guess im looking at getting another "hatch release switch", paint it black, and put some icon/decal on it.Does anyone know where I can get a list of the various buttons that I can order? Also if anyone has any other suggestions other then dealer.Plus, another "AC" button that is left of the cd Receiver would be nice for future mods as well. Thanks in advance.

Hey there...You know, I found exact fit switches at Lowe's and Farm & Fleet. F & F had CalTerm switches while I'm not totally sure on the Lowe's one but I think they were GB (Gardner Bender).I am using 3 of these switches, 2 for my Unichip placed in the hatch switch panel and the one for my Parking Brake in the change holder thing next to the cup holders. They were in the Appliance switch sections at both places.Dave

You wouldnt happen to have a pic of your handy work? When it comes to my vibe, Form is just as important as Function.

And a close-up... Now, these are regular switches but I believe both Gardner Bender and CalTerm have other style of switches. Both the GB and CalTerm switches were around $4.00 a piece.

hmmm, tried to search for these on the net. seems Gardner Bender and CalTerm are the same? I dunno... but the numbers I found were GSW-45 and GSW 49. These model numbers fit the stock openings. Not sure if they have a momentary switch in this size, which I'm assuming you're wanting for the garage door, but you might be able to find it. They have a downloadable brochure. Here is the switch under the Parking Brake...

Thanks for the pics. Very nice work. The placement of the switches in the 1st pic (http://forums.genvibe.com/zerofile/13258/IMG_0602.JPG) is where I want to place them.I looked over the PDF, and while they have "Momentary Contact Push-Button Switches", it wouldnt look good unless I can find a cover. The rocker switches would be either always on or always off.Ive seen the "military style rocker switches", where they flip back to off position, but that would be a bit much for that. Thanks for the suggestion. At least now I know where I can get normal switches. I guess ill have to keep digging to find a hatchback switch or something like it.Take care.

THe blank one is in front of the part that mechanically turns off recirculate when you switch to defrost. You might be able to modify that switch module to insert some custom switch function into the blank fixed button, but you can't just drop another AC switch in there.

They say that getting 1 is rare cause most people will fix them up.Are there any junkyard website that I would have a good chance to get some buttons.Ive even dug around on ebay and on the web with a few results, but nothing that would fit 100%.I think I might have to just settle.

It looks like the toyota part number for the hatch release switch is 84840-01010, and one web site http://washingtondc.toyotapartscenter.net/ lists them for about $44. gmpartsdirect.com doesn't tell me the part number, but if you go there, click catalog, accept the disclaimer, pick a vibe, Electrical, body electrical, liftgate, switch you end up at http://www.trademotion.com/par...gid=0 where it says they sell the switch for $35.something like that switch is too small and insignificant for a junkyard to inventory, so I doubt any of the online junkyard places would have a listing

Thanks for the help. $35 is getting more along the lines of what im willing to pay. $25 would be perfect IMO, but there is no way im dropping $66 as quoted by my dealer for that part.

Hiya again...I decided to do a search again on the switches and found some that might not look so factory but are the right size for the panel cut-outs. The link... http://www.minute-man.com/acat....html shows the switches but if you look at the attached catalog specifications, it shows these switches in on/off and in momentary on styles. These might be worth looking at as well. Dave

David got me thinking too, and I searched and found a switch catalog at http://www.delcity.net/delcity...s.pdf I think the switch you are looking for is on page 104, part number 7700003, a momentary rocker switch. I think the dimensions will fit, but I won't guarantee it. product details are at http://www.delcity.net/delcity...00003 Note that the product catalog indicates that positions in parentheses indicate momentary, so this one is listed as (On) Off, which should mean it is momentary OnGood thing is if it will work for you, it looks like the price is $2.55 plus whatever shipping and handling. You'd have to pay a bunch of shipping and handling to have it end up costing more than from one of the online car dealer part sites.David's pics show how this would look.

Thanks on the assistance. I wanted to post some amazing luck that I found this week. With all the stuff im looking for my Vibe, I have an Ebay search saved for VIBE under interior parts.Well I found a guy that was selling the crossbars for a 03 vibe roof rack. I didnt need/want them but I wanted to look anyways. In his post he said he was selling off other parts of his 03 Vibe. So I jumped and sent him an email asking if he had the dbl armrest and the hatch switch.Armrest: Sold (drat)HatchBack Glass Switch: He still had it.He sent me a pic to ensure that it was the correct piece and he verfied that it worked. In the end, it is being sent UPS and cost of $16 for part and shipping. If you want to see what other parts he has I can ask him if he wants me to release his email to you all and you can pick through his vibe.Again, thank you soo much for everyones help on this. Just cause I found the part I needed, dosent mean that I wont need something else like this in the future.
