Been driving my new to me 2006 Vibe a little harder than I should...but is is so fun!!!I have noticed that under hard acceleration in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear that I get get a slight hesitation at 3500 rpm or so. It feels like the power band just flatlines for a second or two. It does not stutter or jerk at all is just goes flat for a bit. I have not been able to get it to do it in fourth or fifth...mainly because at that RPM I would be going WAY OVER the speed limit on the highway!Any thoughts....is this the variable valve timing doing its thing? I am assuming if I have no lights showing up on the dash board that hooking my DRBII code scanner up to it would be a waste of time?Oh yeah...it is a regular 1.8 with 37,000 Km (23,000 miles) and supposedly all maintenance is up to date (according to the dealer)Thanks
Fuel injector problems can be very RPM specific. I had a similar issue with my '06. It developed a misfire which only occured at 2,500RPM. I had a CEL though. I cured it with a couple of tanks of Techron fuel injector cleaner (only available in the USA). Your car is still under warranty, get the dealer to deal with it.
I say this a lot here but it is fact and the product works. I would run a bottle of Chevron Techron Fuel System cleaner in the tank as Raven says. Do not use any other product here! Put it in and then fill the tank with gas. It may help but will not hurt and is always good to do. Issues like yours are hard to diagnose since no check engine light is on and I am sure of course there are no broken parts that can be seen. Your GM dealer sells the same product, endorsed by GM, probably for more money though if you cannot find it. It would be under a GM label as well, not Chevron...
Sorry to sound dense but....what is a CEL?Problem with the dealership is that they will want to have it for a day or so and then tell me they were not able to replicate and that they performed diagnostic check and found nothing....Followed by a bill for $150 or so.Does any other fuel injector cleaner work besides Techron? I am goin south in a few weeks and could pick some up...but there must be something else that can be used? And let me know about the lexan foglamp covers you sell.
CEL= check engine lightIn my 30+years of driving Techron is miracle juice. The fuel injector cleaner from the GM dealer is the same stuff I believe as stated above.

Since there is nothing for them to go off of and a technician will not get paid to test drive the car, let alone drive like the way you have to duplicate the issue. You kind of are stuck here until, if it does get worse and of cause an issue. I would use the Techron... If it is hard to find, I heard Shell has a product that is supposed to be equally good but I have not used it nor remember the complete name. For now, I would go to the GM dealer parts counter and ask for the GM fuel system cleaner. And the fog lamp covers. If you go to the forsale forum, there is a sticky about them and alllllllllll the feedback. They are plastic lenses that cover your glass fog lamps to prevent rocks form breaking them.
