I'm looking into buying a small portable DVD player, I'm not too knowledgeable in that area and I'm requesting your help. My main usage will be to play Strength Training Workout DVD while I will try to follow the instructions. Here are my questions:1- With the small built-in speakers (probably not on all models), are they powerful enough to be heard at, let say 4 feet distance? 2- If most of my commercial DVD collection are Widescreen, should I settle for a 7po, 8.5po or 10.2po screen? Is 16:9 ratio exist on those DVD player?3- Is computer files, such as mpeg, mpeg-4, avi, Div-X, wmv gather from the Internet will play on that DVD Player if burn on CD-R? Is there such things as Codec problems like on a computer some time?4- If most of the time, I will be using domestic current (AC), is there none the less important considerations on the type of rechargeable batteries of those DVD players? Thanks in advance.
I think, I'm leaning toward a Toshiba SPD-1900, it has DivX capabilities, can read all formats, 9 in screen and a battery that can last 5 hours (some say at least 3.5 hours). Now, how important is it, if it does not have an USB/SD Card reader? I think that the unit having that feature are new and very expensive, is it true.I don't have a need for a laptop, otherwise I will buy a laptop instead. My need are to be able to play Strength Training DVD in my own Gym, listen to a DVD while waiting at some waiting room and being able to watch some Internet video files on my TV.I think, this unit will do the trick. What are your Pro's & Con's on those portable DVD Player? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your advice. For those interested, I finally pick the newest swivel screen model Toshiba SD-P91SK (9" LCD Screen).I'm very amaze by the screen quality, the sound is ok (some people claims that it is not loud enough, perhaps true in noisy environment like airplane). It is my first portable DVD unit, so I cannot compare, really. My other (2) TV are Toshiba as well, so the logic is friendly to me.
