You said it will take two weeks.... is that to order a replacement part or the time your vehicle will be at the service center?quote:take it back there has been others with this problem in their vibe and matrix. It will take about two weeks. But it is a problem.
It is the "single disc" CD player that has the problem. Radio repairs are done with exchange units. Have the dealer order the revised radio and call you when it is in.
wrench79, this question is for you since you have the 6 disc cd player? Have you ever seen the light between the Volume knob and the << (Back/Rewind) button light up and under what circumstances?
ya know i never even thought about that until you asked me lopers. I just went out and checked. I loaded and unloaded a cd and it did nothing. I tried using the rds and nothing happened, then armed the security system and it still didn't do ****. So it beats the hell out of me what that light is for. The only light that i've seen come on is the one next to the cd slot.

Hmm i already got an after market radio, but with my old single disk factory one, i would hear grinding when i would brake. im guessing thats the cd hitting into something. Do i have to reinstall my old one and go to the dealer to get it fixed? or can i just bring in the radio.

quote:It has to do with how Thick a CD is there are different CD's look at you collection and youll understand what am talking about. I freaked out the first time it happenMy CD player made this noise with any CD i used.I took it to the dealer and had the service manager go for a ride (all of 10 feet ) I put on the brakes and he looks at me and says "what is that noise?" he ordered me a new radio and 3 days later I went back and had it installed, no more noise from any CDs. Now my right rear window regulator is really screwed up it acts like a ratchet going down ( click, click, drop a 1/4 inch click, click drop a 1/4 inch) going up is no problem. I guess I'll take it in and have them check the A/C vent also. any other little problems they know about but don't want to recall? I remember reading a post here about a group up in detroit looking over a bunch of vibes. what did they check on them?
It is the security theft protection on the radio. It has to be activated at the dealership. Once activated, it will light up when ever the ignition is off. It will also not let the radio work in any car other than yours without being reset by the dealer.
Ha I had a problem with my radio about 3 months ago! I turned the car on in the cold one day and the radio all of a sudden started making a very bad static sound and it wouldn't change radio stations or turn off. Even when I took the key out of the ignition. I was so mad. I had to pul the fuse on it to get it to stop lol! I took it to the dealer and they replaced it!
