My next car in 3 years is starting to look DANG good! It already took out the Dodge Charger R/T vs. the G8 GT. Now it took on the Maxima 3.5 SV. Motortrend tested the two head to head, and yes one if FWD the other RWD, but Maxima has long been known as the full size sedan king for years and years. Well, not anymore. I am sure Maxima aficionados will still flock to it, it's a really nice car. But the G8 GT coming in almost a full $2,000 less with similar options bent the Nissan over it's leg and spanked it.Just read up on it through the link and see why my future car is making me very drool.http://www.motortrend.com/road....html"Keep making daddy proud, cause one day one of you CPO beauties will be in my garage"
You just go right ahead and buy yourself a V8 car... won't be long before you can't drive it due to preimum being 8-10$ a gallon... I filled the Subie over the weekend with 4.50$ 94 , that SUCKED..
It's not gonna get that high, OPEC came out yesterday said oil should be $60-70 a barrel so they and Saudi Arabia ramped up production. That and the fact that speculators have dumped their money in oil futures cause the dollar was weak. But the dollar is on an upturn currently and getting better. I could totally see us going back to between $2.50-3.00 by end of year.

That's an overly optimistic outlook.Quote, originally posted by Calgary Herald »Beefed-up energy prices will stay strong this summer, according to the National Energy Board, predicting fair tidings for the oilpatch and storm clouds for consumers of gasoline and electricity. In a stand-pat outlook for the next six months, the federal regulator said Wednesday crude oil prices will remain around $130 US per barrel and natural gas prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange will range between $11 and $13 US per million British thermal units. It all depends on what analyst you're listening to. It's such a volatile market it's impossible to predict. Anywhoo, the G8 is a very sharp car.
Not to mention in 3 years my salary will have gone up and be closer to almost 100k a year. Heck my fiance already gets that kind of mileage 15-24 in her Jeep Liberty. And the Maxima is not far off with a EPA highway of 26mpg.

Trust me, I know.G8 will be an impressive car. GM is really stepping it up. it's about time. However, those rims would have to go! oh ya, on this current tank of gas, I'm running 23 mpg CITY. not that far off from my VGT and twice the power and 100 times the handling.

Holy crap, 23mpg?!? My last tank I got 30 even (and I have a GT) and it was 75% or more city driving...How did you manage that Coldmm? But yeah, the g8 is beautiful IMO and it has all the good aspects of the gto with much better looks than a 300m or any of the other competition.

I avg 26 mpg in my Vibe GT. only 23??? auto? that can make a difference and if you are in a hilly area. How much are they saying the G8 are going to go for? I mean the GXP one fully loaded.
lol, topic sway.I pulled 31 out of my last tank on my AWD XR. The base should get more than 23 unless your pounding it. I pull 28 consistently from my AWD.I would get the 19's if it didn't have them already.

I saw one today!! They were filming a "car" TV show at work. (though the show is biased-cars only from one dealer, and only their OVER $30,000 models.) So they had a gorgeous bright red G8 there and I was in lust. PLUS...they have a G8 TRUCK coming! It and the G8 are on the current cover Motor Trend or Car and Driver mag. (sorry I forget which one. I was too mesmerized seeing it on the cover at Borders)and a hardtop Solstice. Ohhhhh yeah...
