It actually burnt out a while ago... only a few months after buying the car last summer. I guess the obvious answer is the dealership. But can I just buy a generic one at a walmart or auto parts store?

Sure can. Just take a philips screwdriver, remove the screw and pop off the control panel for the sunroof (or the map light button, it's all the same). Unscrew the bulb, bring it with you, match 'er up. You could try RadioShack too.But I don't know what bulb it is, if that's what you're gonna ask next...just bring it with you, you can get them pretty much anywhere...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
You should go to an auto parts store, they will probably have the best selection of automotive bulbs. You will need to know what the part number of the bulb is. You can call the service department of any Pontiac dealership and they should be able to tell you what it is over the phone. I just checked the owner's manual and it is not listed in there, even though it should be. Also, try a search on this site, I have noticed that this bulb has blown on a few other people's cars and I think that someone posted the correct number for it on here already.

I just found it on this site. The number for the interior map lights is #94849375. Thanks should be sent to Shenandoah24, she is the one who originally posted this part number. It seems, after searching, that this light has gone out on many Vibes so far. Some members here have reported that they got this bulb replaced for free under warranty at the dealer. Otherwise, Shenandoah24 also notes that the suggested retail price for the bulb is $4.44. Might be worth a trip to the dealer. I have yet to personally have any problems with interior lighting in my Vibe, but I guess I don't really use them very often.

I've had mine replaced twice also...just burned out again, as a matter of fact. Doesn't stay working more than a few weeks before burning out it seems....wonder if this is a big problem?
