I know there has been a lot of discussion on pulleys, and I have read them all. However, I am still not sure on whether do go with this mod or not. I have a few questions if people are willing to help me out.1)What are the best pulleys to go with for a base?2) Is there any downside to swapping these pulleys on a base (I know about the issues with GTs). 3) If you have done the mod, what gains have you noticed?4) What brands do you suggest?5) Is harmonic balance an issue for base models?Thanks,

1) I really like my set-up. Alutec OEM Sized Lightweight Crank Pulley & OBX/UR Alternator Pulley.2) I have not been able to find any issues with the 1ZZ and this pulley set-up. I would not suggest the UR underdirve crank pulley or the AEM Alternator pulley as they will put a strain on your Alternator(UR, AEM), Oil Pump(UR), Water Pump(UR), etc...3) I have noticed that I accelerate faster in the all RPM ranges but it is most noticeable in the mid rpm range especially when needing to pass. It takes less work for the car to accelerate during normal driving.4) See #15) I have been told many times that our engines are internally balanced and that the oem crank pulley is only a vibrational dampener to prevent vibrations from pulley to pulley. If you install aftermarket pulleys, you can minimize this vibration by also installing a Goodyear Gatorback belt. With my set-up you can use the oem sized belt, which is 72.5" long (you can get one any most auto parts stores.)I have thought about installing an underdrive crank pulley too many times to count, but have recently made the decision that I am going to just stay with what I have since I do not like the idea of underdriving anypart of the engine. I am very happy with my set-up and would recommend it to any 1ZZ owner who wants to free up some HP to make their car go a little quicker.Hope this helps get some of the info you were looking for.
