weather stripping coming loose

Post by WaveAction »

anyone have any problems with the rear hatchglass weather stripping coming loose? i noticed it the other day when i was washing my car at work and popped the hatch glass up to clean the inside of it..it was coming loose on the drivers side top and bottom corners..it's almost like it's "shrunk" cause even when i try to stretch it, nothing really happened.what i did though was got some weather stripping urethane and put some on, used some ducktape to hold it there over night and it seems to be holding so far..just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them?

I have a problem with the metal under the stripping rusting and dripping rust junk all over the back of my car. As for the shrinkage, I haven't heard of that problem. You may be on your own with that my friend.

I had a problem with water getting in somewhere around the top of the hatch when I bought the car new. I'm not sure what was replaced but it's okay now.

Mine didn't want to stay up in the top corners, like it wasn't big enough... so yes, kinda like it shrunk! I never did anything about it though. It did leak water when I first got the car but the dealer did something to it, probably just adjusted the glass or something, can't remember. *shrug*

oh well..it's fixed and from what the trim guy said thats usually what they'd do anyways is just use the weatherstrip adhesive/epoxy stuff on it and tape it til it dries
