I can't imagine ever wanting to make that trade. You might, but I never wouldI guess maybe because I'd never want to own the prelude, and would bet lower maintenance cost for a 2003, higher for a 1993.
I'd keep the 5 yr. old Vibe and do the maintenance than the 15yr. old Prelude with the rebuilt 80,000mi motor. Seems to me that there would be more costlier maintenance on the Prelude than the Vibe. Just my opinion though.
My Fleet:
'15 Ford Fusion AWD Titanium 2.0 Tutbo
'14 Lincoln MXZ AWD 2.0 Turbo
'14 Nissan Pathfinder AWD SL
'05 Pontiac Vibe AWD
Couldn't imagine trading something straight up that had a difference of 10 years... Seems like a poor deal, esp. considering the going price of a Prelude for that year...
The engine is a rebuilt with 80,000 but how many miles does the rest of the car have? I would say no to the deal, but if you want to trade cars I have an '89 Accord with 93,000 miles all stock, and still faster than my base '04!
Please don't do that trade for all of the reasons stated above. Plus, if you ever need to transport anything bigger than a grocery bag, good luck with that Prelude.
dont do it..personally that prelude is ugly..and yea..the vibe is better for alot of reasons..specially compared to a prelude..can you fit a 46" lcd tv into a prelude? i think not

Dude, anyone who'd offer to trade their car knows they have something wrong with it. They're always looking to get the better deal. You will not make out in this!I once traded my '79 Toyota Celica (with flames on it ooo yeah!) for a car stereo for my '86 Fiero. Yeah, I got the better end of the deal LOLZ! The toyota had a several inch long crack in the exhaust manifold (I didn't know what was wrong with it, the heat shield was covering the crack).an Ex of mine traded his '69 Camaro for a Ford pick-up truck with big nobby tires. WORST TRADE EVAR! Trades never work out for the tradee.

I've worked on that style Prelude... Sorry Can't remember the Gen...One of my friends has had about 5 preludes from the early years up to that gen... he said by far that was the worst one to work on... and he had the most problems with it... The next gen after that one is pretty good, I think is was from 98-02? but if you get it with the auto sport shift, you might have tranny problems. I know everyone else basically says don't do it.. and I could see why you would like a change, but regardless the mileage, I think you will have far less problems with your vibe.
You would never get over the loss of room, between the cars... If you are THAT concerned about the Vibe, by a totaled doner car with lower miles and swap over the motor.... then you can have a Vibe with 150k on the body and 60k on the motor..
i think thats a horrible idea. imo, your vibe is worth way more that a honda especially one thats older. you'd have to pay me to drive a riced honda but i'd gladly drive a modded vibe and being a gt is a bonus.i agree with Sublime, find a wrecked gt and swap out the motor
its up to you... but I wouldn't. You never know what that honda has been through. Sure the engine is "newer" but the rest of the car is 10 years older.

+infinity - dont do it. I hate honda's and their rep. Any car can have a good record if you take care of it right. That vibe should go 300k miles if taken care of. Just keep doing the scheduled maintanance That trade would f you over so bad, you'd be kicking yourself later. that car is almost 15 yrs old imagine all the rubber and joints that would need to be replaced!
thx for the replys. and i agree wit h them. thats y its so hard for me to trade. ive had about 30-35 offers now and yet i cant seem to part with my vibe. i always back out. id like to get a new motor or car to swap but i live in an apartment and that isnt an option. ive never had a car with more than 100k miles so im iffy since mine has 144,000 on it. gas is also killin me

for the power your car makes it gets decent mileage for the capacity of storage it has if you need better mileage you should really try to drive more mpg-wise and if need be take off mod's that detract mpg... If you think about it, you save like 1-2 dollars a tank getting premium...meh not much in my book.

Seems a bit silly to me... So, you live in an apartment, you can't get a motor and have someone swap it for you? you don't know anyone with a garage? I few friends and a day or 2 and you could easily swap over a motor that is plug and play... I think you really want something else, and just keep getting them cold feet
well i had a modded 2.2 in my ion and even ran a 75 short of nitrous and i wasnt spendin as much on gas............ this car eats gas....
