Sorry if this has been asked,If the factory has squeezed more HP >2hp and Torque >3 ft/lbs out of the same pre 2009 engineWhat do we need to do to get the same performance.I have an 05 automatic. Are we looking at a different computer chip or ?????Or , please direct me to a previous thread
They've done a lot of mechanical changes to the '09s like the new dual-vvti setup, whatever benefit that adds over the old vvt stuff. Probably next to impossible to retrofit...

The 2009 model doesn't just have some small tweeks to the engine, it's an all new engine. The old 1ZZ-FE was replaced by an all new 2ZR-FEhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T...ZZ-FEhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T...ZR-FE

That's really NOT a big increase at all. Changing the in-box air filter to an AFE or K&N would also do about the same thing
I would think the pre '09 1.8 would have the advantage since it's 155 lbs lighter.....at least the pre '09 1.8 has a slightly better power-to-weight ratio.
