I just drove my wife's 2005 automatic today. ( I really need to do this more often!!!!) It just turned 30,000 miles and is one month from the end of the warranty. The transmission makes a very noticeable hard upshift on normal acceleration. It is not a subtle noise or sensation...it is very pronounced. Any ideas? The car has been serviced religously. By the way the CEL is on.
What gear change do you notice the hard upshift on? If the check engine light is on, best to see about getting it in the shop before the warranty runs out! That could be a clue as to why the transmission is behaving like it is. Aty the least, run it by AutoZone and get the code read so you will have some idea what's going on.Go get it checked out and let us know what happens!

It shifts particularily hard on the first upshift. Now for my ognorance. What is a PCM. The warranty is 24 months for emmision stuff and 36 for bumper-to-bumper coverage. How do I stand with a PCM?
PCM=Powertrain Control Module. It's covered under the 36,000mile bumper to bumper warranty. Whatever is causing your shifting problem should be covered.
Had it checked out today. It was the PCM and it is still covered under warranty. In fact, the warranty for the PCM is 8yrs/80,000 miles. Thanks for the help.
