First try On new lights

Post by kittyboop »

So I got some HIDs for my birthday for my car, pretty cool gift to me.They are moving hi/low and I get to keep my DRL.Well, first attempt at putting them in....Went in no problem, First light on passenger side but it, looked great...Second one in ondrivers side, installed finished, turn lights on, driver side is out came to the conclusion it was the ballast.putting in a new one today, wish me luck!

My canadian Vibe have automatic lights, so the low beam is the same of DRL.Northvibe, do you change the side of the connector on the default ballast?Try it

the main issue I see is HID's and DRL. Its just a lower voltage than low beam (usually) or just lowbeam. My HID's in my ms3 are not hi/low, just low and my high beams are normal bulbs. Most people that get HID's disable the DRL on the vibe and just manually turn them on.Fastvibe03 - I cannot answer that as i never had HID's in the vibe. sorry.

I have hi/low and my daytimes still run as do the automatic light feature. Same as always, just cooler bulbs. My earlier issue was it wasn't grounded right. Happy about that, we thought is was the ballast.

Do yourself a favor, disconnect the battery, do the install, connect battery and try the lights before you finish the work. Then complete the install. I did this for my set as per the instructions and it worked fine. Also you will notice that DRLs are never an option with HIDs. Luxury cars that utilize HIDs and have DRLs use a regular bulb for DRL. Just think about it.

Whelan say the truth, HID don't have DRL option. On Vibe, DRL work fine with HID btw.

You'll not likely see a difference, if it was the original incandescent bulb sure, a power decrease will equate to a dimmer bulb, but, in the ballast for the HID, they usually compensate for lower power, to a point, then they'll go out... It would be best overall to disable the DRL just so you aren't stressing the ballast..
