No Electrical Activity when starting car

Post by RanKether »

Hi All,I've got an interesting one-- I recently replaced my battery about 3 months ago. Today, when I went tried to start my Vibe, there was a brief flash of power-- the clock turned on, the lights on the dash lit up for a SPLIT second, and then everything went dead. I tried to turn it on a second time, there was no lights, no power, the car didn't start and I had no horn to honk or headlights or interior lights. I waited a couple of minutes and it turned on just fine. I know the battery is good and none of the lights, interior or exterior, was left on during the night. Did I accidentally reset something or is there something seriously wrong with my car? Thanks in Advance!

Sounds to me like classic symptoms of a loose battery cable on the battery. That's the first thing I would check.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code

That happened to me before exactly like you said and it was the negative cable I had to replace. It was on an 82 toyota corolla hatchback.

Thanks Guys for the posts-- I took out my battery, cleaned terminals and contacts, and then put it all back together again and tightened everything down nice and snug and so far, no problems! Thanks!
