Accessory key position and aftermarket radio

Post by deejay2221 »

HiA professional installed a new radio in my Vibe 2004 and my radio doesn't starts when my key is on "ACC" position. (It starts when I put it on ON, but all the electronic system is also ON and it drains my battery down.Is it normal? Do I need an electronic device (like in Cavalier) to put between my radio and the wires? Thanks a lotP.S. Sorry for my bad english

The original radio should have come on when the key was in the Accessory position. If the new one does not, then the installer must have used a different source of power for the radio. It is hard to know what change would be required to make it come on in Accessory without knowing what change was done by the installerThe original radio was powered by the CIG fuse. Maybe the aftermarket radio is more powerful, and the installer thought that the CIG fuse was too small to power the new radio. From genvibe I have learned that it is possible to wire things to make them behave any way you want them to. The installer could have found a way to power the new radio so that it would come on when the key was in Accessory. If it were me, I'd think about going back to the professional installer and ask them to fix it.et votre anglais est un bien meilleur que mon français
