i got a lil story to share that happened to me last night which I still find very amusing enough to make me laugh out loud over it right as im typing this...Monday nights except for the second Monday of the month are drill/practice nights for my fire company. Being that right now I've switched to fire police for the time being I took my personal vehicle to assist with traffic control for pumping some water down at a park we practice at.After we cleaned up and were heading back to the station I decided to take the opposite way our Engine and Tanker took back to the station. It was approximatly 9pm at night, so it was dark already.Keep in mind that this road is barely wide enough at points for 2 cars to fit by eachother, speed limit is 35 MPH, sometimes 15 in the turns....mostly curves and downhill with some uphill...so im driving along with our fire police captain about 6 car lengths behind me....taking my time watching for deer....well I go around a corner and see what I first think is someone jogging on the opposite side of the road...i wonder why somone would be jogging at this time of hour without any safety gear/lights...it gets closer REAL quick....starts to scare the **** out of me because its getting bigger...and now im thinking its a dalmation cuz all i can see is a white and somewhat blackish spots....so im thinking now its a dalmation...yet it gets bigger and is veering towards me....Is that a freakin pony? I blurt outloud since its seriously "galloping" towards me!its now nearly on my side of the road and I hug the right of the road nearly hitting the damn thing.....as it goes by I catch a glimpse of its head which Im thinking now was higher than my drivers side window!...which was down and I was in the process of closing as soon as that thing emerged out of the darkeness....welll I slow down and stop..debating whether or not to flip on my emergency lights to warn the Captain behind me....remember I was entering a curve when this all happpened....Deciding that the Captain would see my break lights through the trees. I do not switch the lights on.just sitting there watching the rearview mirror his headlights appear and I turn around in my seat to see what happens....well the darn things now completly in my lane directly behind me still galloping....all of a sudden I see his brake lights light up, hear his tires squeal, his brakes lock up and he almost rolls....(Jeep...Grand Cherokee?)well he doesnt hit it..and it just runs around him and dissapears into the darkness...now we're both stopped on the road deciding what to do....after we both calm down and catch our breaths we continue back to the firehouse and he tells me that it scared the crap out of him as well and he thought it was a pony at first also...(the road has several people that own ponies, including one that I know lets one stand by on the side of the road and eat grass...but thats another story which happened on the way back from call on the ambulance...)no one really believed us at first when we told the other guys back at the station...we thought we were gonna be out for the darn thing causing a vehicle accident last night but it thankfully didnt happen....can just imagine how that would be dispatched by the 911 center.....LOL..well im just thankful that no one got hurt.....myself, the captain, either of our vehicles, or the dog?Wont be forgetting that anytime soon since it was also my 21st birthday last night...this really makes me wanna go ahead and mount a video camera to the front of my dash....
