Hey everyone,I'm moving in a few months. It'll be a nice area but chances are I will have some projects in the city and want to keep my baby safe. I already have keyless entry, and then I did have a remote starter installed but I'd like to buy a unit that has EVERYTHING included (entry, security, start) with one remote. I was looking at some of the Viper systems, and also the Crime Guard systems that Crutchfield has. I, of course, want the best for the money. Ideas? Thanks!
ything Clifford. they the best hands down as far as aftermarket alarms. a bit pricier but its worth it IMO. The Viper is also a good alarm,s its made by DEI the same company that makes the Cliffard alarms. The Viper would be a good bang for buck option, depending on what you want it to do.Aron

I'm thinking about getting an alarm/remote start too. Could you possibly recommend a couple models? Nothing super fancy, just reliable, good range and somewhere near 2-3 hundred dollars.I am considering installing it myself. How difficult are they to install? I'm comfortable doing stereo installs, but I'd need really good info on which wires to tap into for an alarm/remote start. Are there any good wiring specs for the vibe?
Any alarm/Remote start from a reputable company would be a good choice DEI makes some of the best security around, but it all depends on the features you would like or need, like a 2way remote and such.http://www.directed.com/Produc....aspxall in all I think any from the link above would work for most people.I use to own an avital and that was an awesome alam, now I run an alpine 8081 alarm and I wish alpine still made alarms though that wasnt in everyones price range. I wouldnt feel comfortable saying that someone can or can't instal an alarm/remote start system, just because there is alot going on there and I wouldnt want to feel responseable if something happened.Difficulty wise The first one I ever did I hated and said I would never do one again, but that was also 8 or so years ago. However if you did want to give it a swing there is a wire digram that I posted up somewhere in the audio section.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=31372

Thanks Aron. I'll have to think about installing myself or not. My main concern with having someone else install it is all the horror stories I've heard about places like Best Buy and Circuit City destroying a car's wiring system or just taking 4 or 5 days and charging 3 times what they quoted.I just remembered something else. Most manufacturers won't warrant the system unless installed by an authorized dealer, huh? Guess I need to find a good installer around town.
