New Poster, H.I.D./Xenon Questions

Okay, so I bought my 03 Vibe about a week ago. Love it to death so far, easy on gas and insurance, stores all of my crap.I looked at the threads in here, but I can't seem to find it on my own. I want to eventually get H.I.D./Xenons and I tried searching on the web and ebay but can't seem to get any place that has prices and stuff other than "blinglightz" which I saw being made fun of in another thread. Where can I find a page online that actually has this stuff, for the Vibe, with prices and is a viable resource?P.S. if I am looking to modify anything by going through TRD, do I just basically shop for a 03 Matrix rather than an 03 Vibe?TYIA,Zer0.

personally i dont see why we'd have to disable the DRL's..HID use less power and stuff..and theirs a ton of cars out there that uses HID's all the time..such as cadillacs and acura

If there was a way around it,I would get them.I seem to remember someone telling they had to be disabled,not totally sure on that though.

i guess we'll have to research, but alot of the higher up cars have HIDs as DRL's aswell, i personally dont see why we'd have to disable them, they use less power then a regular halogen bulb

they do when they are at full power.... they require more power to start up. The drls only run at 80%. Because the drls are only running at 80% the ballasts don't have enough power to start.Thats why they strobe or flicker.

i see, so its best to disable the drl's? i dont see how the ballasts dont have enough power when they're supposed to be at 80%..what if you turned the actual headlights on when you start your car, so they can warm up and such..then turn them off..they would work properly after that??

Most DRL operate on reduced wattage or fluctuating current levels. This will cause the HID ballast and bulb to flicker and burn out prematurely.

Recommended bulbs? 6000k or 9000k? I could live without the DRL's, I actually don't like that they are on when it's sunny out.

6K or even 8K are the best way to go for headlights..im undecided on the HID's cause i dont wanna mess my warrenty up, brand new car so i'd hate to have something mess up and it not covered

I Zer0VIBE03, i sell HID since a year a half (see http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=32654 ) i started group buy a it close shortly. Be in if you want i place order 25 april. I have a H4 HID kit on my 03 Vibe and i didn't disable DRL and i don't have any problem. Thanks

Those items would not be covered under your cars warranty of course, but they won't void it. On the HID's... I considered the 4300k because they claim that it has the best light output, but I'm near 4100k with my SilverStar Ultras now and they still aren't nearly as good as my Vue's that are near 5000k with a similar rating in lumens.

1) my pictures are all over this site so I won't post them again.2) my kit is MUCH cheaper cause I own a Matrix, which utilizes a dual lighting system where two bulbs one for high and one for low work, instead of the Vibe that uses a single bulb with two filaments for both purposes. ($70)3) 6K equals a more white look, 8K is noticeably bluer. 4) Stock OEM HID kits are 4300K, the coloring is due to the projector lens type.5) Once you put them in, you will NEVER drive another car without them.
