Front license plate bracket

Post by svemana »

HiI recently moved to Illinois from Michigan and I now need front license plate bracket. I enquired at the dealer and it seems to cost me around $100 which is too much for me to pay (as a penalty for moving to Illinois !). Mine is 2004 Vibe and at the time of buying (in 2003 August), it did not have front license plate (as it is not needed in Michigan). If any of you moved out from a state that requires front license plate to a state that do not require one, can you please send me the one which you dont need? Thank youSati (svemana@gmail.com)

That seems ridiculous. Call a dealer up here and see if they're cheaper in Canada. I recall it being a $5 option at the time I bought mine.Welcome, by the way!

it was free for me since it's manditory here in ontario..your best bet if you dont wanna get nailed for $100, is go to a junkyard and find a vibe that got rear-ended..but if im not mistaken they're held on by rivets so you may have to drill those out just to get it off the bumper

A hundred dollars is just retarded. Where does GM get off charging some of the prices they do - especially for something that should have come with the car to begin with? Are you sure it's not hidden in the compartment behind the rear seat or down in the spare tire compartment? I'm sure you've checked, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I'm not currently using mine, but have been looking to put some sort of custom tag on the front. Otherwise, you could have it. Sorry. I'm sure some GenVibe member may be able to help you out. Good luck.

HiThank you for your reply. Yes, I checked all the hidden compartments in the car. I even called the car dealer who sold me the car about it and he said "as it is not mandatory here in Michigan, we do not give you that". I couldn't say anything. Thank you

Front plates aren't mandatory here in Florida, either, but I got one with my '06. How about one for the Matrix? Many, many parts for the Vibe and Matrix are interchangeable, and supposedly most Toyota dealers won't try to rip you off like the GM dealers do. Anybody out there know if the Matrix bracket will fit a Vibe?

I might have one.I took mine off and stuck it in the garage until i could decide what to do with it. I was having a hard time finding the bolts for the rear plate, but when I pulled it off all that it was was screws. It scuffed up my bumper a bit though. On a side note any suggestions on that? colored wax" or is their something better?

I found my plate, still in the factory bag, brand new, you pay shipping and it's yours if you still want it.
