bad start to the day...but gets better

Post by lovemyraffe »

This morning, I went to work as usual. I was there for 5 minutes before they decided to lay some of us off. Not a good start. As I sign a paper stating that I have no injuries that were caused at work, I dated it 4/21/81. Before I walked out, they asked me to sign another one with the correct date. I apologized and mentioned I do that alot on 4/21 (since it's my b-day). They asked why I date it that way alot. When I mentioned it was my b-day they felt like complete a-$@%*&%.I get home and tell my wife, who is more than thrilled about the new situation, just as she is walking out the door. She email's me some job postings a little while later, but I don't feel like doing much today so I didn't call any.I got out of the shower and my phone was beeping at me. I checked my voicemail and immediately called them back. It was a company I had interviewed with 3 months ago, just after we moved. They wanted me to come in for a 2nd interview. I get down there and they offer me a position with the company! What a start to my b-day. First I lose a job (which I didn't feel too bad about since I have hated that job from day 1) and then I get a job on the same day!
