Installing the LED third brake light

OK, now that I have the ultra-cool LED brake light, I was wondering...how does one install it? Is there anyway to remove the reflective housing that the other bulb was in? I removed the only screws that I saw and it is still securely in there. I also saw that the LED plate will require some minor trimming to fit in there exactly, no biggie. This would be made easier if I could get that housing out so I could trim the plate to fit in it. Any suggestions?Thanks in advance!

I'll try and help...The relective housing stays, I had to trim the sides of my board so that it would lay pretty flush. the brackets that it came with to hold the board in place for me was a joke, so I went with a putty. I like the putty idea. What kind is it? Is it just a general fix-it type or a special automotive putty? Also, did you take off the L bracket that came with it or did you leave it on? I was thinking about leaving it on and using it to give it some extra support. I did hook it up and put a brick on the brake pedal...DAYUM that thing is bright! Good Idea whoever thought of it!Also, do I see autocross tires in the back there? And just what have we been doing with our Vibe on the weekends?

honesty I still need to get some putty that will hold. I used this stuff as a test last summer and pretty much forgot about it. Ths stuff I have in there is made for posters, and doesn't hold all that well in the summer. I would suggest going to an auto store and seeing if they have any putty that will hold up in hot weather and won't hurt plastic.You could probably keep your L brackets on, I didn't b/c one of them already feel off when I first tried mounting it up, so I said the heck with it, and took the other one off too.

what about apoxy..maybe that'll work? i gotta re-do mine cause the brackets/double sided tape that came with them sucked and didnt hold at all..i've tried velcro..but didnt work either..so gotta figure out another way of doing it..maybe some clear calking might work?

I tried the caulk... didn't work because it needs time to dry, and the board wants to slide down...I didn't want to use epoxy b/c I didn't want the, "better have it right cause once that's dry it's stuck" that's why I came up witht he putty, but haven't tried a good putty yet.. maybe I should get that stuff that dude has on those info-mercials, it can tow a semi-truck...

If you go to your local Nissan Dealer, you can ask the parts guy for "tail lamp" sealant. It is basically a roll of sticky putty like rubber that is used for sealing the tail lamp assembly to the car. It is extremely sticky and should work for holding the board up. You can also try a hot-melt glue gun. Just make sure you use the high temp version.
