Any idea where I can get some screws that work properly in the rear license plate holes? I can't seem to find anything at the local parts store and my fiancee and I need to get our new plates taken care of ASAP. Thanks...
I got a couple of bolts at a Toyota dealer for free... They didn't look any different than the usual bolts from the hardware store. They were 10mm but I don't know any other details on 'em.The bolts that came with the car were much nicer than those though. (my original bolts were getting rusty so that's why I went searching for a new set.)

I might swiong by Lowes and see what I can find this afternoon...

Jill has 2 in her liftgate, but they are obviously the wrong size and thread type. I think the dealer just jammed them in there, and they probably stripped out the factory threads, I don't know, I haven't looked at them yet...

Well I went to Lowes tonight and spent 5 bucks for like 5 sets of bolts that would do both cars. The M6 bolts worked perfectly on my car since there had never been any screws placed in there at all. The fiancee's car 1 worked fine, 1 hold had been stripped by the wrong screw the dealer put in. So I got the 1 bad bolt started ok, and then proceeded to just cross thread it. I worked it in and out and few times, so its pretty much taken care of. If they try to steal her plate they better have a HUGE flat head, and have some time, I am a big guy and it took me about a full minute to get it screwed in all the way once I went in for the final thread.

I ran into this problem, too. Salesman used the wrong fasteners to put on my license plate. I tried to pick up something at the auto parts store, but nothing worked. I went back to the dealership & the sales mgr took care of it. License fasteners [machine bolts] were supposed to have been in the car when I bought itI'm pretty sure that either the sales mgr or the customer service mgr said that the license fasteners are different for the '07 & the '08Nikki
Igot mine at from an auction(well after the auction)And it had no screws, And while I might could have used screws from the store they didn't seem to fit so i did not force them, I tried lowes depot as well, and no luck on anything. I finally in desperation went to the stealaeship, and shocker they gave them to me.I think at least one of them was stripped, so i did the best i could, and when i got some foam padding to keep it from scratching the hatch they seemed to do ok.
