They’re going to be famous for about 15 minutes," Proietti said.Cheryl Repass worked as a school psychologist for 15 years before becoming Director of the Graduate Psychology Program at Roberts Wesleyan.She said, "It's a piece of their identity that asserts that 'I am a somebody.' So an adult might look at that and say 'That's such a negative image. Why would they ever want to be that image?' But that image has a lot of power, lots of success...even if it's success at one thing…at aggression or bullying, it's a power element that makes them important."When the girl begs the others to stop, the camera keeps rolling, and at one point, there's even a cheer.Proietti said the YouTube video of teens fighting is one of hundreds on the Internet. "I'm not sure you are seeing it more, I think we're seeing it more visibly," he said. Those charged say they attacked the girl because she bullied them on the MySpace site. Experts say a combination of immediacy and detachment teens feel with the Internet feeds this sort of behavior. Parents think they know their kids, but peers know them too, and at a certain age, those peers make a powerful impact.Experts say many adults are behind the eight ball when it comes to knowing about the Internet in general and that parents won't be able to change anything until that changes. It's funny, the same thing the use to 'get famous' is the same thing that will get them locked up.

It's heartbreaking to see even young girls getting so violent these days. I think it shows how much society has been damaged by parents not teaching (or even themselves showing) respect for others. The self-esteem craze sets up kids for major melt-down when they finally get criticism from anyone. Parents should have been involved with their kids enough (I don't mean spying) to realize that there was some online bullying happening.

The six teenage girls, and their two male look-outs will all be charged as adults and appeared for the first time in court on Friday. Our readers have been very vocal in regards to their thoughts on the case.To recap the story one more time, on March 30, six teenage girls from Florida carried out a brutal attack on 16-year old Victoria Lindsay. The motivation was apparently due to heat between the girls, which started on MySpace. They also had two teen males act as their look-outs.They video-taped the attack with the intent to put the video up on YouTube.Some of the video was released by authorities, but was edited. Still, the video that was shown was extremely violent, as the girls repeatedly threw blows to the head of Lindsay.
