anyone have any experience with these?http://www.generaltire.com/tires/heres my problem...i cant make up my mind if what tire to put on...here are my choices...1.go with the General Tires ...i can buy them this weekend.2.go with the more expensive Toyo Tires...i can buy them this weekend3. put off buying the tires a lil longer and attempt to get sponsored by Toyo which would mean i would have to display one of these decals above each rear wheelI actually think they look pretty cool...sooooooo what to do what to do?it kinda had me thinkn be really nice if i got sponsored and then could use the money elsewhere...(front/rear sway bar kit, stb, seat covers, Globe EMS Jacket..., savings...)
Yeah, what are you going for? I wouln't use the Generals if you gave them to me... To many bad reviews on NASIOC (my performance review source, whos more perfomance than Subie drivers eh)The Toyo T1R is nice... But if you are just after cheaper performance tires, hands down Kumho SPT.. I preach Kumho because i've had 3 sets and LOVED them, from a true performance standpoint, it's a real bang for the buck company, not to mantion they make all out extreme performance tires... So, what is it you are after?
Hi waveresponder,I currently own the Toyo Proxes 4 and I wouldn't really consider them again for an all-season tire. I would purchase them again if I went with a dedicated Winter tire though. I did upsize to a 245 width so that more than likely caused most of my snow traction issues but I think the tire itself is better suited for summer/mainstream performance over all-season.My next tire will more than likely be the General Exclaim UHP or the Altimax HP. I'm still undecided but the choice will need to be made soon. Neither are probably any better in winter than the toyo's but they're much cheaper and thus allowing the purchase of a dedicated winter tire this coming winter.I've heard mixed reviews about the generals. Heard that the way they make them causes the belts to separate over time (3-4 years). I think it's basically the same way they make Continentals too but before I had the Toyos I had the ContiExtremeContact tires and were fairly pleased with them. I also get new tires every other year so I'm liable to replace the Generals before any separation occurs.I'm going with the Generals because of cost, reviews and tests on tirerack and 1010tires and a local dealer who specializes in them. Davei've read that the structure of the General UHP is really weak, like wet noodle weak, like sit on the tire without a rim in it and crush it flat weak... like really soft sidewall weak... just givin ya what I got... not critisizing.. (much )
good news and bad news...General Exclaim UHP are what is waiting for me tomorrow morning!so that means pics of the Palladios should be coming...ill probably be too excited to post pics on here right away when i get back home...(probably be driving around wasting gas the whole day seeing how many looks i get )also registered for my first car show....Carisle Performance and Stylenow the somewhat bad news...lolscraped the bottom of the front bumper going into a parking lot yesterday...its low enough that you have to bend down to see it really...not really upset over it....i knew it was gonna happend sooner or later....it made me come to the decision not to lower the vibe....just noticed my one grille light now does not work for some reason...im assuming that the wiring just worked its way loose will fix it tomorrow hopefully as well as finally wire the lightbar into the switch in my console..Palladiosssssssss!
there were General Brand tires (came OEM not sure the model) on the 92 Taurus my folks bought long ago. 3 of the 4 failed due to defects prior to 30,000 miles.1. egg shaped bulge.2. Blow out on I-25 outside of Santa Fe, NM (inside sidewall)3. Complete de-tread an destruction of front corner pnael.Needslees to say I am not a fan of General Brand tires.
Scary stuff. I've been considering a set of 17s with UHP Generals. Maybe better to put up a little more $$ and go with Bridgestone. Always had great luck with them. Just wish there was a larger number of high performance summer tires with non directional tread pattern that let you rotate through all positions. Most of the better rated tires have directional tread. But I am rethinking the tire choice.
'08 Manual, Sun&Sound, 17" Borbet Type CA wheels, 215/50 Summer Tires... 16" OE steel, 215/55 Snow Tires

-1 on General Tires.I totaled a '92 Sable with stock Generals on a foggy night in Queens, NY.Take a sharp curve on an entrance ramp with 30 mph posted speed and sprinkle with condensation. Brake hard (ABS) and spin until well shaken. Then add oncoming traffic at 50 mph.WHAM!!

Regardless, glad you made it...
