Installing Automatic Doors

I just bought a 2006 Vibe that doesn't have automatic doors or windows. Does anyone know about how much this would cost to have installed?BTW I'm completely mechanically inept so anything do it yourself won't work for me. That's why i'm worried that it might cost a lot.

welcome to genvibe!um yeah... not to be blunt but if you cant do it your self it is going cost you some bucks. Anyway to return the vibe? get one with auto doors/windows? I know my dealer had a 200 mile or 3 day return policy on my mazdaspeed3.

I already bought the one without. I love it....except that my computer system just crapped out on me. luckily we bought the extended warranty so the dealership gets to pay for that hefty repair....This is probably a dumb question, but if I bought the parts (like a door kit) for the doors would a mechanic do it for just labor. I also want to put in Cruise.

Your best bet on this would be to take it to a reputable Audio shop. Most of them can get the kits and install. you would probably be looking at $400-$450 for the door locks and windows installed and my guess would be $150-$250 on the cruise.Aron

there was a diy just recently on auto windows, if you find a donor car to get the locks im sure a shop could easily do it, cruise should be easy too, it just costs a bunch :/ call the dealer to see if they can do it just to get a high ball park idea of the cost.

Can't help on the power windows and locks, but the cruise control is a pretty easy DIY project. The '06 already has all the control systems and all you need to add is the control stalk. Rockauto.com sells the stalk for about $40 and it only takes about an hour to install. The hardest part is cutting a hole in the steering wheel shroud for the stalk to go through.Look for previous threads with detailed instructions and any decent mechanic should be able to do it for you very easily.

I hope he means power door locks and not automatic doors. Cause when I hear automatic doors I think of these.

i recently look into auto door locks for my wifes van. you can get a four door kit for like $75 and i am sure its not difficult to install

I remember a time when I was afraid to get oil on my hands. I find the easiest way to doing anything with my car was to find a buddy who knows what they're doing and doing something simple and go from there.
