2008 NYAS Pics and Vids

Post by Whelan »

Well first off, the show sucked! Acura was not there, I never saw Saleen, Ford had not one Mustang on display, not even the GT500KR or Shelby. I couldn't find Ferrari or Lambo, apparently my friend said Lambo had like two cars there, and he as well could not find Ferrari. The Ford display was all about the new Flex. Also, there was about a million people there, way more than I normally see, we were sweating like crazy and had to keep going outside to cool off. And you could not get near a lot of the cars cause people were just everywhere. Next year we are going on a weekday cause this was retarded. But without adue, here are some of the cars I was able to snap and two videos of the Lexus IS-F dyno they had setup outside. I apologize for some of the quality, you could not get good pics cause of the jerkwads walking by. Um, yeah, going on the weekend is a pretty bad idea. I still have my pics that I have to scale down and post. Maybe I'll share them eventually. lol!Even on Friday, it was still too crowded to be able to get decent shots of most cars. Bummer.

Nice pics.. I swore off the auto shows... too many gimmicks, too many people... too much of the same ole boring stuff...Every time I went I'd go to see the cars I can't see.. the Ferrari's the Lambo's... so on... but usually I find that they aren't even there... or it's just 1 car.. whoopie.. I hate paying a bunch of money to rub elbows with a ton of other people to waste a bunch of time to see something that I can't sit in... I'd rather go to the dealer.I try to just hit the car shows, they are more fun, more customized stuff... more fun.. and usually cheaper

Well they must have been swamped by a sea of people cause neither me nor my buddy saw them. It was just waaay to crowded. I've been on weekends before and it was never this bad. That compared with how hot it was in the Javits Center made for an unbearable time.

There were definitely a lot of people, but that was the way with the whole city so I wasn't too overwhelmed. It was rather warm in Javits, though. Acura was right next to Hyundai. In fact I have an areal shot of the whole Acura display.

I just think that they mixed up the Jeep and the Subaru displays... that IS-F does shift really fast.. it seems the manufactures are finally getting F1 technology in the autos now... I know a lot of the performance auto shifts are touting less that 1 second shift times now...!!

Yeah I gotta go during the week next time. When we took the train in to GC then hopped the shuttle to Penn to shorten the walk to like 6 blocks to Javits we were kinda shocked at the number of people not around, until we got closer to the show that is. After the show we hopped from Penn to Times Square and went to O'Lunney's (right up the street from Planet Hollywood) for a few drinks at like 5pm. It was a typical Saturday in the Square. I also blame it on the fact that it was a really nice day in the city at what seemed like over 50 degrees and sunny.

I don't like for anything to automagically screw around with stuff even if it will make my life easier. So I go through each file in The GIMP, crop, resize, make other necessary adjustments, save, upload.... Taking the long way around, I know.
